Hi my Name is Debbie and I live in the beautiful SW county of Devon uk. I have two grown sons and six wonderful grand kids a husband of 33 years and a foster daughter who is 15. Diagnosed type 2 Sept 2013 (just as my dad passed away) Doctor told me to go away and diet for a year, I just went away grieved for my dad who was also type 2, ate what ever I liked and buried my head right in the sand. This was not a great time nor was it a clever move on my part as my Hba1c had spiralled ever upwards and I was really starting to feel the effects of being hyperglycaemic with constant thirst, peeing, boils and thrush and also feeling tired and listless all the time. Doctor still wanted me to control with diet only and told me to put away the test strips as they were not necessary with type 2. Following a routine blood test at hospital Hba1c was 78 and the consultant felt I should have started some form of treatment so now taking 2 x 500mg of metformin was upped to three but my stomach just cant take that extra one and about to start Bayetta and dreading the side effects! Back out with the test strips and testing around 6 times a day trying to see what effects diet and exorcize have on my levels but finding however hard I try have never had a reading below 10 and averaging around 19 no matter how hard I try. waiting for results of next hba1c lets see what that brings? Have been reading copious amounts of stuff but every report, study or opinion seems to add to the confusion so just trying to stick with low carbs and low calories.
