Hi Ben
Yeah, I used to HATE doing the tests but it's become a routine thing now, it's a bit like wearing a watch, it serves a purpose. Well, OK, I still dislike wearing a watch but I do check my blood glucose 4-5 times a day! ;)
What kind of meter do you have? Some of them have really good...
Jelly babies - bought them...and had them today(for the first time ever) today as blood sugar was low.
Trouble: I like them too much!! I could have the whole back sooo easily!
Are Jelly babiesand jelly beans the same apart from the shape? I feel a bit stupid asking this but I've never had them...!
I am glad to hear someone else experiences the 'depressions' too! I have exactly the same, extremely intense feelings of 'why bother' or 'what's the point'.
Nowadays I know it's a hypo on its way so I just go and eat something and then I'm happy again. :D
Some of the things that have happened to me really do give me the giggles now but of course it wasn't funny at the time...
Has any of you hallucinated when having a hypo? Well I have!! We were on holiday with my ex and I saw this couple, with two dogs, and the woman was in skin tight jeans bent...
Wow - three months moonstone, that's great for you :)
I have to get jelly babies. My doctor, diabetes nurse or any other professional has ever suggested those or the GlucoGel, I am annoyed about that. I've only learnt about those here today. Shows you why these kinds of forums are so important.
That's interesting what you say about chocolate - it works very quickly for me. A whole Mars bar has about as many calories as a meal so that'd be a bit too much. Honey is also good but if I'm really low, getting a spoon out and opening the jar is too difficult.
And hell yeah I do get the...
Thanks for that Fergus, glad to hear others have experienced it too, I probably wasn't doing so badly with my experiments then!
Last week, I ate two pieces of toast bread (wholemeal) for lunch with ham, cheese and salad. Then in the afternoon 2-3 biscuits. In the evening, meals were meat and...
Thought I'd start this topic as there are a few people here who have been recently diagnosed...Also for myself, although I've had diabetes for 29 years, I am sure I could learn much more from others.
Also interested to hear what are the first signs you experience. Mine vary - sometimes the...
Don't you get massive cravings for bread and potato? I'm asking because I was experimenting a bit last week and today I was just DYING for bread, bread, bread and bread! And also potatoes, well, chips, and scones! Shopping at M&S food department was a nightmare.
Obviously maybe I had too little...
Hi moonstone,
I've got type 1 diabetes too (diagnosed 29 years ago) and live in London, if you want to chat about how to deal with it at work and elsewhere, please feel free to send me a PM. I don't actually know anybody else who has type 1, and I live on my own too...and sometimes it is hard...
Posted a long post here and then for some reason it disappeared!!
Anyway, fergus, I'd be interested to hear how long you have been on low carbohydrate diet, and how you first learnt about it. This has probably been discussed elsewhere but I'd also like to hear what you eat on a typical day...I...
Hi Jude
Have you ever kept a food diary? If not, maybe it would be a good idea to do that for a few weeks.
When I saw my diabetes nurse about the stomach problems I was having, she pointed out that often it is only the following day that problems occur when we have eaten something that our...
