    Tandem vs Medtrum nano

I've being using the nano since December but I've no experience of the Tandem. I really like the Nano - small, ability to control it via my phone etc. that + the fact the battery is embedded means you don't need to carry spare batteries. All good things I too have a bit of a reaction to the...

    Libre 3

If you're using an iPhone you can enable 'Critical Alerts' which is an iOS feature only available for emergency apps. The alert will play even if the phone is muted and/ or in in a sleep Focus mode.

    Dawn phenomenon strikes again

I’ve not tried splitting may basal evening insulin dose but I have tried shifting the gap between and timing of my basal doses to match up with my body ie working out where / how the activation curves of the two doses overlap so that I didn’t go low in the afternoon but had enough for the rest...

    Apps to give insulin

As I understand it there is also a bit of a regularity hurdle to get over too. If a phone/app controls insulin delivery it needs to be certified as a medical device. Medtrum get around this by having the default setting configured so you need to tap the pump to initiate the bolus. There is also...

Do apple watches scan libre sensors?

Hi @Cherith, I don't know of any Apple Watch apps that allows you to scan a sensor (there's also the practical problem of scanning if your sensor if its on the same arm as your watch). There are various option for getting your BG data onto your watch - the specifics will depend on your set up...

    Apps to give insulin

I think... the only pump that can be controlled directly via an app in the way you're asking is the Medtrum Nano (apologies if this is wrong). I'm assuming you don't mean control the pump as in looping...?

When do you inject an adjustment dose?

I'm bad, if I start to go high I'll correct (even if within 3 hours)... in my defence ;) ... I know that if I go too high my Fiasp turns to water and then hits me like a train on the way back down so I correct by increasing my basal rate (I'm on a pump) which will stop having an affect within...

    Going out for a meal

FWIW I push my temp basal up to 200%, set my BG alarms to catch a 'low' / scan regularly and yes the extra insulin from a temp basal lasts about 20 mins so once I cancel it things return to normal quite quickly.

    Any help/advice

Hi @DannyH I'm really sorry to hear what you're going through at the moment it sounds really tough and if you're anything like me the high BG alone must be making you anxious. You probably know all of this already but just in case re If you're concerned about how much further your BG will...

    Considering Insulin Pump

I went with the Medtrum Nano because of the size, the option to control it from my phone (less stuff + some redundancy) and because its a patch pump. I also wasn't interested in/ didn't need some of the features other pumps offer over the Nano. Not anymore and when I did I wasn't a diabetic...

    Omnipod DASH or another?

Some thoughts… Positives: 1. It is tiny, a small ‘footprint’ and low profile is good for the obvious reasons but also means it is easier to find a fresh site (by way of comparison, the pump is a little oblong thing, the long side is about the same as the short side of a omnipod); 2. I like the...

Sudden Rise in BG on waking

It sounds like your basal insulin needs tweaking. Looking at what your fasting BG is doing at other times of day will help you work out what to do. Also worth remembering that extended periods of fasting can also affect your BG.

    Omnipod DASH or another?

Hi @homer190376, the Medtrum Nano is an other patch pump option and the one I went for. If it is an option for you, I’m happy to let you know my experience.

Sudden Rise in BG on waking

@LionChild if you haven’t already you might benefit from running a few fasting BG tests to check your basal dose is correct and correct at different times of day.

Type 1 Please I want your answers in regards to Insulin pumps and the access to them.

Hi @Olihill99, I recently moved from MDI to a pump (Medtrum Nano), hopefully some of this is of some informative... Firstly in my experience being on a pump has improved my BG control and generally it is a very 'good thing' - the biggest thing for me - I can now sleep through the night...
