    Low carb vegan?

Thanks for your reply, WuTwo, unfortunately as I mentioned they’re gluten free which means the ital wheat gluten is out of the question. Therein lies my problem, wheat gluten or soy seem to be the main protein sources and the reason I ‘m struggling.

    Low carb vegan?

I don’t want to hijack the thread so apologies in advance, but does anyone know of any options if you can’t have soy or yeast? We’re veggie not quite vegan, we eat fish and eggs but try to keep it as low as possible, preferring veggie options. My biggest problem is that myself and my sons are...

    Diet for underweight Type 2

He checks his BG regularly and gliclazide was the first and only med he's used. It has never brought it down to a very low level so never had a hypo. We were flailing around in the dark a bit until I came on here and it was suggested he may be 1.5. Let's hope tests can solve it

    Diet for underweight Type 2

Hi Bluetit, we're looking into whether he is type 1.5 (thanks to the forum) and I count the carbs in the nuts, we're meat free so I have to juggle the carb intake from nuts/pulses etc. we do eat lots of oily fish and eggs too though. Lol, that should read 'has snacks' Oh, and how do I tag...

    Aaaaargh

Nuts were hazelnuts and almonds, he didn't have many so no more than a couple of grams carb wise (unlike his usual intake of nuts, I use nuts in cooking so he eats a lot but we count the carbs in them). Six eggs at lunch time, scrambled with butter. His diet is high in fats/oils. He has coconut...

    Diet for underweight Type 2

Hi Tony, my other half (he's the diabetic one not me) was pretty thin when he was diagnosed ( just under 11 stones) and as far from your typically described type 2 as you could get (healthy diet, plenty of exercise), his BG levels are all over the place and since he was diagnosed he's lost lots...

    Aaaaargh

So today the OH has had a grand total of 22g of carbs, that was at 9 this morning. He had protein only lunch and a snack of nuts around 3.30 (2.30uk time), he's just checked his BG pre dinner and it's 9.7!! It's now almost 8pm here so that's four and a half hours since the nuts. Feeling...

    Hi new here help please

Booboo, I assume the reason you don't want the diabetes diagnosis is that it may affect your work as a driver? I'm not sure of the rules relating to diabetes and driving for a living but I'd assume if you can control it with diet then the risk of hypos is less therefore driving shouldn't create...

Is this unusual or are there others like this?

Another autoimmune issue to add to our household! This one wasn't one I'd given any thought to (mind you, I hadn't given much thought to diabetes at all until his surprise diagnosis as he doesn't fit with the classic stereotypical symptoms). Trip to the Dr and more research me thinks Thanks for...

Is this unusual or are there others like this?

Thanks, we tried stopping the gliclazide, to see if it went up or not but it made no difference. With or without it his levels skyrocket. Even the tiniest amount of complex carbs is enough to make it sky high, even in the middle of a day of gardening and dog walking. I've never heard of type...

Is this unusual or are there others like this?

Hi there, my other half is the diabetic in our house, he was diagnosed type 2 just over 3 years ago and at the time was just under 11 stones. We found out purely by accident thanks to a medical for something else, he ate a healthy diet and was physically active so it was a shock. No other...
