Type 1 running ..is time of day strategic ?

Good luck with the running! I find it much easier to get up and go with my running, so much easier to control things. I do find if I go out for a more relaxed pace I will see my BG level drop a fair bit, if I am going for a longer or faster paced run then things generally stay the same or go up...

    Recovering from Illness

Had a thought this evening, I’m not usually drink huge amounts of water. The last few days I have been drinking a lot more water than I am used to, could that be make my levels lower than usual?:pompous:

    Recovering from Illness

Thanks for your reply. I've just called Abbott there and they are replacing, incidentally this was already a replacement. Sickness type illness always seems to make me low, I was more concerned on this occasion that I was seeing a lasting effect days later

    Recovering from Illness

Looking for some help. I had a sickness bug at the weekend. During the illness and even now that I am feeling better, I'm struggling to keep my blood glucose up and having to implement a -30% temp basal on my pump I'm pretty much eating as normal now but still seeing quite a lot of lows...

    Running as a Type 1

@JosieMcGreal well done on taking the plunge on signing up. I’ve done 10 half marathons as a type 1 as well as one Ultra Marathon. It’s really a case of trying everything out in training and making sure that there’s nothing new on race day. Maybe try and pick up some shorter races between now...

Couchto5k Type 1 difficulties with running...

Hi @Jem154 As others have said, well done on your achievements with the Couch to 5K programme so far. I started with Couch to 5K in January 2017 and it is a great plan to follow. As you I mainly try and run first thing in the morning before any food. I find this works well for me. Over...

    Book Corner.

Just been looking through all the diverse books that you are all reading. I switch between my kindle and physical books. Kinlde is great when we are away on holiday. I am currently reading Driftnet by Lin Anderson. First in a series of around 12 books and it is very interesting. Another I read...

Advice for First Time Half Marathon

@cokemannz assume the half marathon has now passed, hope it went well. I did 6 half marathons this year, with varying levels of success from a diabetes point of view. I had horrific hypos on my second and third races which totally took it out of me for the rest of the run. I did have 4 where I...

    Eurostar security

I traveled by Eurostar in October and had no problem. They swabbed it at the British end, and couldn't have cared less at the French end. I set off the metal detector at the French end, the security person saw I had a pump and waved me through. Security at Disneyland Paris were more of a pain...

Relation between running and blood sugar

I sometimes also see a rise from running, sometimes I see a drop. On Sunday I did around 10K with a start of just over 7.0. At the end I was going to run for a little bit longer but tested my blood and it was 3.7. First time I've had a hypo during a run. This morning I tested before my run and...

    Set Change Day

Yes I agree, although I do my set change first thing after being in the shower. I suppose I could set up a pattern in my pump for these days. I'm not even totally convinced my ratios are right in the morning anymore, so it could even be this.
