    Chilblains?

My husband has developed what he says are chilblains on 3 toes and is treating them with germolene. He is type 2. He gets angry and nasty when I try to get him to see his GP or diabetic nurse and wouldn't attend an appt I made on his behalf. I cook him low carb meals but suspect he...

    Sleep / Energy

I saw on a TV programme about sleep deprivation that sleeping more than 8hrs a night was positivly harmful (except for children, teenagers and the elderly) so I wouldn't worry too much. Shift work makes establishing a good pattern is obviously not helpful either. You can buy blackout curtain...

    low carb snacks

Yes I think that is the answer Geordie, when I feel the urge to snack I say to myself - if you are really hungry make yourself a mini meal - then when I decide I can't be bothered I've saved myself a few calories, but if I really need it I've made sure it was a low carb one. (well thats the...

Stung by a wasp - bad reaction.

A neighbour's son - he was about 16 at the time - was stung by a wasp (just a bog standard English wasp, not a European one) swelled up all over and started to have breathing difficulties. We took him to A&E where he was given an antihistamine injection. His mum said he's definitely been stung...

Gluten sensitivity and type one diabetes

Your itch could have been a touch of dermatitis herpetifloris (I haven't spelled that right) which is a kind of offshoot/side effect of Coeliac Disease, it can be very very distressing and some people who are not controlling their CD effectively can suffer from it for years. When its really bad...

Gluten sensitivity and type one diabetes

Try this site http://members2.boardhost.com/glutenfree/ or if that link doesn't work (mine seldom do) try typing - the coeliac, dh and gluten free forum - into google. They helped me a lot but I'm not type 1. LCHF dieting can be adapted very easily.

    Cataracts

I was shortsighted before the cataracts were removed, and I was less shortsighted afterwards - but my reading sight deteriorated so that I had to get specs for reading when I'd managed fine without them before. Anyway, I was 75 at the time so it wasn't much of a bother. I did have some problems...

    Slimming World dilemma

Too much insulin folks? Now why didn't someone explain that in the beginning? The info I was given at GPs and at clinic was that diabetic's pancreas was damaged and so I assumed NOT producing the stuff. I've spoken to someone at 'headquarters' who was very helpful - well almost too helpful...

    Slimming World dilemma

Has anyone been given a free 12 week course at Slimming World by their GP? Can you recommend it? I have looked through the hype on their webpage and their recipes seem very high carb and include potatoes, pasta and rice. This is totally against everything I've learned on here and is going to...
