    Which strategy..?

Thanks all. Does anyone know WHY my blood sugar rises fasted in the morning? Liver pushing glucose out and no insulin response? Today for example 5.2 upon waking, went for a walk, drank water, 2 hours later im 6.7. After lunch I’ll barely go above 5.8 for the rest of the day. Dinner never...

    Which strategy..?

Been skipping breakfast for about 3 months or so. I was on insulin when first diagnosed in March, then reduced medication to just metformin and then halved my dose after my a1c fell from 117 to 39 in the first 6 months. Before my metformin dose was halved, I would wake up with 5.5 and it would...

    Which strategy..?

Hi guys, Type 2, 500mg metformin twice a day, last a1c=39. So I have noticed when I test first thing in the morning my blood glucose is consistently 5.5 - 5.9 but in the hours after that, up until my first meal (lunch about 1pm) it will rise above 6 to around 6.5 and stay there until I've...

Type 2s: What was your fasting blood glucose in a morning? (very low chat level)

5.2 this morning which is a drop from the 5.8/6s I've been getting since halving my metformin dose. I have noticed that even if my first reading is 5 then I always increase to 6 by midday even if I haven't eaten anything.. is this normal? If so or if not, what's the cause?

    Impact of reducing Metformin

Hi All, Type 2 here on 4x 500mg metformin a day. Diagnosed in March with a1c of 107, a1c result last week was 39 so obviously really pleased with that. Had an appointment with my consultant and he said we should try reducing metformin in half to 1x 500g twice a day. Typical readings are 5.5-6...

My first A1c (and lipid) result since diagnosis

Hey guys, I hope you're all doing well. I just had my first blood test results since diagnosis in March and I thought I would share to show the effect of lowering my carbohydrate intake to 100g or less per day. I'm 31 and was diagnosed with Diabetes in March and initially put on Novorapid and...

    blurry eyes

My eyes have been blurry since diagnosis. Had checks for any diabetes related damage and none to be found. I’m just near sighted. Completely unrelated to the diabetes.

New diagnosis as type 2 Hba1c test 104 and in shock

I was diagnosed type 2 (satisfactory c-pep, neg antibodies) with a1c of 107 in March. Initially put on insulin but now just take metformin. I’m 31 and weigh 15 and a half stone. Changed my diet completely so I eat a lot of meat and more fat now. Have about 80g carbs a day maybe less and I’ve...

    Post Pandrial Peak

Hi Guys, Following a meal, should your blood glucose be at its highest after 2 hours or should it be back to its normal level after 2 hours? My blood glucose is 4.5-5.5 before meals, around 6-7 at the two hour mark then usually goes back to 4.5-5 after about 2.5hrs. Is this normal? Just...

    Newly Diagnosed and Blurry Vision

Hi Dave, Thanks for your reply and congratulations on your a1c result. I bet you were delighted and deservedly so. My fasted readings were the last to come down so I’m glad that they’re now constantly in the 5s. I’ve only been diagnosed for 3 months but it feels like I’ve made very good...

    Newly Diagnosed and Blurry Vision

My blood glucose was around 17mmol/l when I was initially seen by an out of hours GP and he admitted me into hospital for two nights. When I was let out they didn’t then know if i was type 1 or 2 so put me on insulin. When the c-pep and antibody tests came back they suggested I remain on...
