    Dawn Phenomenon

Something just clicked here regarding locality affecting the liver activity at first light! I would try using an eyeshade to sleep when you are in long daylight environments and see if there is any difference. Probably all our livers, diabetic or not are designed to prepare the body for the...

    Dawn Phenomenon

Try sleeping with an eye cover when in long daylight environments. Nature probably designed us to lift up the sugar levels to prepare us for the days activity at dawn. Just an idea that clicked as I know light exposure has several effects on the body.

    Diabetic hand syndrome

There seems to be growing interest in inflammation as a basic problem with numerous diseases; particularly fairly modern and common ones. The is generally blamed on sugar and processed food. I have type 2 and Arthritis, also some nerve damage I suspect from Chemotherapy. The best relief I...

Neuropathy extreme pain, other types of meds ect

I have been determined to get to the bottom of this problem and find something which helps. A naturopathic chemist researching the problem recommended ALA and Chromium, which I have taken for some years, and if I run out boy do I know it!! I have arthritic problems in hands and feet as well...

What is the lowest your blood sugar has been?

Get your meter calibrated...it could be way out as they are not 100% accurate anyway.

    Type 2 & Blood sugar over 20mmol/l - what can I do?

Your Mum should be assessed by a good Endocrinologist as soon as possible, as it looks like she has received hit and miss treatment so far. Something has been missed. Her sugar level should be monitored continually..she should have her own meter.

    Lunch ideas?

I find lunches a real nuisance on the farm for some unknown reason, so often whiz up some milk with an egg tossed in and perhaps some banana or strawberries, also a glob of yoghurt or maybe diet (no sugar) ice cream. You can throw in all kinds of alternatives; make it with savoury...

how much does metformin actually help ?

I will stick to Metformin for several reasons. Apparently it causes the cells to be more receptive to glucose, and turns it to energy rather than fats. Less sugar in the system is beneficial whichever way you look at it. Being an inflammatory agent it feeds cancers, damages arteries and other...

    Metformin - B12 Deficiency!!!!!

II have changed from cyanocobalamin to the Methyl, and have been feeling much less tired. I asked for Metformin, as it has a huge statistical advantage when it comes to recurrence of cancer, and it also keeps my sugars at a very acceptable level. I rarely wake up with a reading over 6point...

    Sugar Tax

I am wondering about things like Jam, which is the must sugary product you can get. Fruit sugar we are told, is used in a different way by the body, than refined white sugar. Not sure how true this is. Honey seems to be a bit different as well, seemingly because it is digested in a different...

Odd highs without change in diet or insulin

I am type 2, and not on insulin, but find odd morning fasting readings of 7 or a little more, when they are usually under 6.1. The liver's release of glycogen can be a bit overdone in attempting to compensate for lowered sugars over night. Oddly enough I have been discovering that a little...
