    Burnout... but now positive!

Hi, It's been a while back I'm trying to get back on track. I have been going through a bit of denial and now because of this forum I've realized "Burnout". My doctor of 17 years has retired and after visiting a few different doctors and my endocronologist I think I am feeling more positive...

    Advice Please

Hi, Yes I have had both tests and was diagnosed 2 years ago as LADA. Thank you for your advice... I was shocked that a doctor would make assumptions after a 5 minute consult. Yes i will seek a 2nd opinion as well as lose the weight. Thanks again!

    Advice Please

Hi, It has been quite a while since I last visited the forum and am appreciative of any advice. My GP of the last 17years has just retired and so I went to see the doctor replacing her as I needed more prescriptions for Insulin and needed to meet the doctor before a script would be provided. I...

How much Insulin is too much?

Thankyou for your replies. I know it was a very basic question but wondered just what amount was considered usual. I am not injecting at lunch because my endo still has me on a small amount of glicazide and at the moment my after lunch readings are staying down. He did say that I would...

    Diamicron XR

Thankyou for your responses. i have been low carbing since diagnosis and found that this did help my readings at first however, I have found over these last few months that my BGLs have crept up again. I guess I could cut more carbs but I do find breakfast to be the hardest for me as the thought...

    Diamicron XR

Hi everyone. I have been on 4X 500g of metformin for about 6 months now and about a month ago was prescribed diamicron XR (glicazade). The endo told me to start with one tablet for 2 weeks and if my readings were too high to double the dose. I have done this (for 2 1/2 weeks now)and have found...

    Diamicron mr. Advice please!!!

Hi, A friend of mine was prescibed Diamicron this morning to take along with her metformin as her morning BGs were not that great (between 9 -10). Her doctor however told her to take it at night before she goes to bed as the doctor was not happy with her morning readings and wants to bring them...

    Considering Insulin

Hi everyone...it has been a while. My last HBA1C was not great 8.9...up from 6.8 and I am currently on the maximum dosage of Metformin (slow release). I have changed my diet to low carb and exercise as often as I can. I have an appointment with the endocronologist on Monday morning with a...

    Am I Diabetic?

Hi Amyg, I may be wrong but I thought that a urine test was not conclusive and that the sugar does not always show up, If I were you I would ask for a blood test...yes they may think you are a pain but isn't it better to be sure? I hope you are OK and good luck.

    Fungal Infections

Well done Nicola! Once your sugar is under control you should find the thrush will go. I had it for 12 months not knowing I was diabetic. ..but once sugar was under control the thrush disappeared. Low carbing definitelty helped and regular exercise. Keep up the good work!

    Am I Diabetic?

Yes definitely ask for a fasting test. The symptoms you describe are very much like those that I had. Thrush (for 12 months) blurry vision, weight loss frequent urination, dizzyness etc. It wont hurt to know and if you don't have diabetes then you've at least ruled it out. Best of luck! Anna

    Thank goodness for this forum!!!!

Thanks for all the replies. i must say that my doctor was so excited and said that a lot of doctors get mixed up with Low carbing as opposed to no carbing. She seemed just as excited as I was at the results and said that my cholesterol was even lower than the last test and it has always been OK...

    Thank goodness for this forum!!!!

:D I just want to say thankyou to every one and the advice and support offered on this forum. I just came from the doctors being told that my HBA1C was 6.8 down from 8.6 3 months ago. If it was not for the low carbing advice (that only this forum gave me) I would still be seeing the 10.2 I was...

    What do you think?

Thankyou for your replies. I am sorry I did not respond sooner as I have been away on holidays. The carb counting went right out the window whilst away but am back on track now. I have joined a gym and am trying to lower the BGL's and raise my fitness that way for the moment. I really do not...
