Trial libre with one sensor and the app

Thanks for that information - I decided to go ahead and just buy the starter pack as it would be useful to get the 15 minute readings too!

Trial libre with one sensor and the app

I am just wondering if any libre users could advise? Could I reasonably trial the libre using a single sensor and downloading the app to my Samsung phone (with NFC)? Would I be missing out on anything important by not buying the reader or is the experience the same? I don't care about people...

Type 1 What hormones (aside from cortisol) increase BG during illness?

Have you managed to get prescriptions for extended travel?

Hi I'm going travelling for 4.5 months in Europe. I'm wondering if anyone here has managed to get prescriptions of insulin/test strips etc for an extended period to take away or were your doctors unhelpful/unwilling? Thanks

How many units in a pre-filled pen?

Hi I'm trying to calculate how much insulin I'd need to take away with me when I go travelling. I use pre-filled insulin pens (levemir and novorapid). Am I right in thinking that there are 300 units in a single pre-filled pen or is it 100 units? Also when doing calculations, how much would...

Can you qualify for a pump if you don't have bad control?

Re: Can you qualify for a pump if you don't have bad control Thanks very much for this information - it is really helpful. Glad to know that a good hba1c doesn't necessarily rule it out (albeit it's more difficult to qualify). My main reason for thinking about the pump is that I have...

Can you qualify for a pump if you don't have bad control?

Hi I'm just wondering if there is any way to have a pump if your control isn't that bad and you don't have lots of hypos? My Hba1c is usually between 6.6% and 6.9% so not what they would consider 'poor control', however I take around 9-11 injections a day in order to get that level. I can't...

    Retionpathy results advice needed

Hi Nathansmummy I had background retinopathy for a few year's worth of scans. But then about two years ago it disappeared. I think that it got slightly worse when I improved my control and then totally reversed. The last two appointments I've had, they said my eyes were totally normal! I did...

new potatoes vs. brown rice for BS spikes?

Thanks everyone for responding - really interesting to hear your answers. I had been avoiding rice as the last time I had a small portion of rice noodles with a stir-fry I had a maaaaasive spike. However looking back I think it was white rice in the noodles. I do love my potatoes but I'll try...

new potatoes vs. brown rice for BS spikes?

If you had to choose between a small portion of brown rice or about 4 baby new potatoes - which would least spike your blood sugars? Thanks Goji

Type 1 going to India for 3 weeks

You will have an amazing time - I'm very envious. Agree with the others that frio bags are essential to keep your insulin cool. I got a terrible stomach problems in India but didn't bother to go to a doctor. It lasted for 3 weeks and kind of ruined my trip. I wish now i'd just gone to a doctor...

    False hypos

I've had this sometimes, I think of it as a 'relative hypo'. ie. my bloods have been a bit high and then a sudden drop leads my body to have hypos around 4.6 or 5.2.
