    Type 1 or Type 2

More variation! My diabetes was a result of pancreatitis. The pancreatitis was a result of a gall stone becoming wedged in the pancreas. Now the pancreas is not producing enough insulin so I am injecting. It doesn't fit type 1 or type 2. Sent from the Diabetes Forum App

    Hello everyone

Re: Hello everyone Hi there Jenny, I can understand your dread of injecting. I was very ill in hospital for a month last November with pancreatitis. I had to have anti clotting injections every night and couldn't bear even to look. A month ago I was diagnosed with diabetes as a result of...

    NEW TO THIS FORUM

I have also had problems getting a specific diagnosis. This is because the cause was a result of 'severe acute pancreatitis'. I was in hospital for a month - including one week in intensive care - and was making a good recovery. When I left hospital just before Christmas I couldn't walk...

    Hate that I'm here :(

You poor thing. I'm newly diagnosed but I'm an adult and I'm finding it hard. No wonder you can't stop crying. I really feel for you. This forum is great and I'm sure you will soon have responses from other parents who have been through the same thing and come through it. Lots of hugs. Anne...

    Novorapid and snacks

I find I need a snack between meals. Does my before-meal dose of Novorapid cover this? I'm not sure how long it is effective. Sent from the Diabetes Forum App

    Reusing needles

Thanks Picklebean, I've been following the other thread. Your photos should be enough to convince anyone to change needles! I'm just appalled that healthcare professionals are not all convinced. I was advised by nurses on the diabetes ward when I was in hospital two weeks ago that 'everyone...

    What's the highest you've been?

37 twelve days ago at diagnosis. Was recovering from severe acute pancreatitis and thought I had escaped complications but my pancreas stopped producing insulin so I was back in hospital on an insulin drip. Am now injecting four times a day. Sent from the Diabetes Forum App

Thanks for all the info. It's really useful. I've already started asking questions on the forum and had good replies. It's very reassuring knowing that help is so immediate. Sent from the Diabetes Forum App

    Reusing needles

Bent needles? No, I don't think I'll risk it. It wasn't the cost to me that concerned me but to the nhs. My son had trained me well. He was a health care assistant who was very aware of tight nhs budgets. When his GP tried to call an ambulance to take him to hospital with leukaemia (of which...

    Reusing needles

Thanks for your replies RRB and Scottish-jim. They were very helpful. I read the info on the link and I think I'll use the needles once only. It's not worth the risks even if it costs the nhs more and there is enough to worry about just getting used to it all. Thanks. Anne Sent from the...

    Reusing needles

I am newly diagnosed and have been given conflicting advice about reusing needles - both lancets and needles for the insulin pens. The diabetes nurse said "I have to tell you to change them every time". Everyone else seems to reuse within 24 hours. What should I do? Anne Sent from the...

    Pancreatitis and diabetes

Hi there, I haven't used a forum before so I don't feel confident this will reach anyone! I was diagnosed eleven days ago and don't seem to fit either T1 or T2. I was recovering from severe acute pancreatitis when my pancreas stopped producing insulin. I thought I had escaped complications...
