    Dexcom G6 vs G7

Hi all, After getting Dexcom G6 in October 2018 (3 weeks after diagnosis…) I had a relatively good and seamless experience with it. I do a lot of exercise (sweat on sensor, Abb crunches etc) and always wore it 5-10cm to the left or right of my belly button. I would say 85% of the G6’s went the...

    Diabetes charities supporting developing/war-torn countries

Hello, Although on the surface I can be considered as being relatively unlucky to be a Type-1 Diabetic.... Being a relatively wealthy, intelligent, health-conscious British Citizen, with all the help & support we get from the NHS, I feel somehow not so unlucky when thinking of my Diabetic...

Type 1: What are your HbA1c test results?

Direct copy and paste from my iPhone notes! Diagnosed in 2018. Most recent, I had been VERY lax on holiday in Spain eating fried potatoes and drinking beer for the 2-weeks before (regularly waking up guiltily seeing my Dexcom at 18+) October 2022 (Leamington) HBA1c = 6.9% (5.2mmol/mol)...

Cant find a cereal that doesn't shoot my blood sugar right up!

I’ve been T1 for over 2 years now (am aged 35) but I dropped breakfast cereal years before my diagnosis, substituting for Porridge. I used to get in to work at 7:30am, eat 1/6 a box of Shreaddies (sp?) - so probably 100g of carbs easily - and then by 9:30am I would be besides myself with hunger...

    Diabetes and Cramp

Hi, had my results back last Friday (attached to thread below). All good and potassium is normal... The doctor told me I was using less than half of the Lantus that most of her patients use, so she said she’d be surprised if that was it.

If I do everything right, will I still have issues?

Thanks for all the responses :) And a very good point about the difference about getting T1 short and sharp later in life, compared to a young child making mistakes with T1 whole still learning about their bodies in every other way, or an older person with slow onset due to T2. I guess the...

If I do everything right, will I still have issues?

Hi guys. There is something I’ve been struggling to get a decent answer out of a doctor, specialist nurse or even Google. My story: age 33 lost 18kg within 4weeks due to (what we later knew) was DKA, diagnosed with T1D. Just over a year on, still train 5x/week, eat well, drink more moderately...

    Diabetes and Cramp

Thanks- both good ideas. Would be interested in the science behind it. Maybe it’s a side affect of synthetic insulin use... I’ll have to book in for an appointment soon to get it changed over. I’ve got a lot of Lantus left, maybe 6-8 vials, so should probably use that up first!

    Diabetes and Cramp

Hey, Phil in Shanghai here. I was going to create a new post, but this pretty much covers what I wanted to discuss! I’m one year since my T1D diagnosis (tomorrow!) and remember having tingling and cramping calves waking me up at night before I knew what was wrong with me. It’s happening again...

    NovoPen hack!

Hi guys, Recently I got to work in the morning, starving, ready to make my usual oatmeal breakfast in the microwave (I get in too early to eat at home). And as per the normal routine, grab my NovoEcho to click 3.5 units into my belly, 15min before eating. To my horror I went to click, 0.5...

    Humid weather affecting me?

Hi! It’s my first post on here. This week my BS has been sky high (for me), and I think it’s related to humidity. Please skip to the last paragraph to see the crux of this post... in the middle you’ll find my self introduction waffle! Brief history: Diagnosed Sept 2018 at age 33 with T1D in...
