Evening all.
Type 2. Metaformin.Controlled by diet & exercise.
I'm doing LOTS of exercise first thing in the morning, and my gym instructor has recommended that I include some protein in my breakfast (usually porridge or eggs & toast)... or have a protein based breakfast.
Not wishing to spend...
Hi.
Quick question - just been told that I'm starting off on Metformin as my blood sugar increased somewhat at the last blood test.
I have to take it with food. I already take Lansoprazole (before food on a morning). I have read that there does not appear to be any kind of reaction between the...
Re: Diagnosed "Borderline" Type 2, and now.. er.. just "Type
Annie, Primmers, Viv - thanks again for coming back and helping me out.
Firstly, Primmers - thank you for correcting my misinterpretation of what you were saying. And I see what you're saying about "engaging with a process", or just...
Re: Diagnosed "Borderline" Type 2, and now.. er.. just "Type
Angie, Annie, Primmers, Viv - hello! :)
Again, thank you to you all for offering your help, advice and sharing your diabetic experiences.
What amazes me the most about diet, (taking into consideration what all of you have said), is...

Rob, (first) - hello! :)
Thanks for sharing your experience here. (I have to say there's never two stories alike on this forum , even though a lot of peeps seem to be virtually in the same condition/medical treatment etc?).
Yeah. I...
Re: Diagnosed "Borderline" Type 2, and now.. er.. just "Type
Viv - you live in a perfect NHS World - free at the point of need - and timely :) Good for you!
So, being a Type 2 Viv, (if you don't mind me asking), was it just a matter of fact thing that you were told you had to self test? And...

Morning All!
It's a blustery Saturday morning "darn sarf" here in the "Mordor Of England", (that's Essex to anyone who's wondering? :) )
Firstly, let me say "Hi" to Viv who popped in here the other day to help me/comment/contribute...
Re: Diagnosed "Borderline" Type 2, and now.. er.. just "Type
Bowell - hi :)
Yup - like your analogy about hair pulling :)
But, just to clarify - are you saying that it DOES matter if this spiking occurs, or are you saying that it DOESN'T matter?
And, therefore, are you saying that I DO...
Re: Diagnosed "Borderline" Type 2, and now.. er.. just "Type
Catherine - hi
And thanks to you, (and to all others!), for a welcome to the forums.
Yes - testing. I see what you're getting at. I may well investigate this further.
I suppose, as a non-insulation taker, I could just do a whole...
Re: Diagnosed "Borderline" Type 2, and now.. er.. just "Type
Daisy1 - hi :)
Yup - all good info, thanks! :)
I was a bit confused, (as most people are I guess), when I was first diagnosed, about diet in general.
I saw the advice on avoiding/reducing starchy foods. Although the...
Re: Diagnosed "Borderline" Type 2, and now.. er.. just "Type
Thanks for that Dippy :)
I like the "youngish" bit. LOL. I would be slightly over 45ish :D , and I think the implication was that it was more difficult to maintain a steady lifestyle change simply because "old age" can make it...
Evening all!
May I first say what an excellent forum this is! I'm popping in most evenings since I joined and just trying to find my way around. Excellent info etc etc :)
So, last September, (2010), I was diagnosed "borderline" Type 2. What this meant for me was being put on Simvastatin, (to...
