What have you eaten today? (Low carb forum)

It's almost gone, now, thanks. I haven't had a pie for quite a while now, apart from a pork pie, so I must have lost my touch at choosing a nice one.

A nice (but too thin) sirloin steak, with red darling sprouts (which were nice), chantenay carrots, purple sprouting broccoli, and a couple of sautéed red rooster potatoes.

    Losing faith

I did at first, but found I had to set a reminder for two hours later, or else I'd forget to test after the meal. I then bought a few CGMs. I don't use it now, though.

It seems to be a bit hit and miss as to whether they'll prescribe one. Good luck. Let us know how you get on. If they won't they are quite cheap to buy. I got mine for about £15 with a supply of strips and lancets. But you're right, the cost of pills will certainly outweigh the cost of a meter.

    Losing faith

@Rachox has links to models and suppliers of blood glucose meters and strips. Remember, it's not the spike that counts, so test just before eating, and two hours later. The rise should be around 2 mmol/L higher or less than the previous test. That would be a good start.

I think she was referring to beta cells (in the pancreas) dying off. I've read a little bit about this, but I have no experience of this. Somebody will, though.

What have you eaten today? (Low carb forum)

Today's lunch was a lamb shank in red wine gravy, with Brussels sprouts, carrots and a couple of sautéed potatoes. I was quite hungry so I had it fairly early, and it was all lovely. I doubt I'll eat for the rest of the day, though.

I use sucralose and it didn't and doesn't have any impact either. I'd prefer to use stevia, but it tastes a bit weird to me.

Today I made creamy garlic chicken, with green beans and some basmati rice. And later I had scrambled eggs on sourdough toast.
