Hi,
I'm just going through my application to re-new my pump for a further 4 years and my consultant has told me that the rules have changed now and the manufacturers will now issue you with a pump if it is lost and stolen as long as you report it to the police and have incident numbers etc. So...
Well done Tom!
I've been wanting to do Hellrunner/Tough Mudder for ages but didn't know how to do it with Diabetes. Now i'm thinking sod it lets do it :D  :D
Yes, I found exercise is a great way to help keep your bs down overall. Although I don't exercise with high bs levels as an increase in adrenaline can push your sugars up quite a lot and for me it can be quite quick. But most of the time I do a mixture of running, dancing & kickboxing :)
What a ridiculous statement!!! If you feel that way then you go ahead and pay for your own equipment!!
I like many others have not 'inflicted' diabetes upon ourselves! I've had type 1 since I was 9 years old! I work every hour god sends and pay all my taxes and national insurance. So no I'm not...
That's absolutely shocking! Sorry to hear about your experience.
Myself personally i've never had a problem whilst out clubbing, I used to keep my insulin pens in my pockets or bags and people were usually ok about it!
I'd definitely think about contacting a newspaper to share your story, we...
thanks phoenix, finally after a week or two of experiementing with different oats (i've now had to buy gluten free oats as I didn't realise I wasn't meant to have readybrek and normal porridge) I've finally figured out how much bous to give myself. It's all about the trial and error isn't it. I...
Yes gluten free foods are becoming a lot better than they used to these days. I eat quite a lot of things nowaddays. There is usually always gluten free pasta in the big supermarkets (in the free from sections) and the frozen foods are always improving. I did a test on a few of my friends and...
Tgat makes so much more sense. Thanks for this. I never knew any of it, I've always just been told never have ketones and its bad if you do. I find I usually have around 0.1-0.2 blood ketones anyway so that makes sense with what I'm eating.
I've half sussed out my proteins but it's very trial...
Thanks for that pneu, although can I aske what you mean by going back into a ketosis state as I was always told that was a dangerous state to be in for a type 1 diabetic?
I work with a 1unit = 10gcarbs also so will try to give a bolus per 17g protein and see what happens. It's mad, I never...
Hi all,
This was very briefly mentioned on the tail end of another thread but I need a little more information.
Those who don't know me, I'm a type 1 on an insulin pump. I've recently been attempting some low carbing (at the moment I'm down to around 150g carbs a day - I know this is a little...
Aww sorry Simon, I though you had already had a diagnosis! You seem quite up on your knowledge from what I've read so don't worry, the guys on here will have you in tip top form in no time :D
Typical. I've had mine and was ok but my poor mum's had a persistant cold ever since she got hers! Wouldn't mind but this is the first time ever we've both gone for the jab! Typical!
Haha I prefer them hot but I can see what you mean, it's not too bad cold lol. I love these cheese and ham ones we have after our runs on saturdays. There absolutely gorgeous :D
