Hi,
The media and many GPs want to paint type 2 diabetes as 'lifestyle choice' believing that carb reduction is the solution and ignoring other factors, such as medications that people take that can raise blood glucose levels. Mediations that raise blood sugars like prednisone and...
bendrofluemethiazide
blood glucose measurement
controlled by metformin not insulin dependant
diabete type 2
hyperglycaemia
uncontrolled by non-insulin medications
Metformin usually won’t cause pancreatitis. Typically the injectables like Trulicity or tablets like Jarndice or glickazide will have an increased risk of pancreatitis. These medications will stimulate the pancrease to produce insulin where as metformin works on the liver.
Hi
I have been on glickazide but gone off of it because of severe abdominal pain and nausea
I never had problems with hypos while on it but my morning fasting blood sugar was slowly increasing. Most mornings it was between 8 - 9.5
When I first saw th diabetic nurse and started monitoring my blood sugar due to Glickazide, I was advised to send in any trends that were concerning. I was told they would respond and advise. Nurse said it could be medication or changes in diet.

I am experiencing the same issue, my blood sugar for the last week has been running much higher than usual. Form what I can see and from my own personal experience, it does not matter what I eat my numbers will vary irrespective of my diet.

I am a like breakfast and luch person. Lunch tends to be salad with no dressing. Breakfast depends on blood sugars, typically a bit of yogurt with nuts or fruit, primarily apples. Supper tends to be a bit larger. It iwll depend on wife and my schedule. Usually meat with a veg or salad.
I do two finger pricks. First, Is fasting before eating anything in the morning and this tends to be my highest reading and usually taken around 6 am. After breakfast I will then drive to work. Then at lunch, around 12 noon I will have lunch and glicazide. Before driving in the evening, I will...
I take glicazide and because I drive I was told to test before driving or driving more than 2 hours. Today, when I called about rising blood glucose levels, I was challenged as to why I tested so frequently. I know in the USA patients are encouraged to test regularly.
