How long should one ideally wait before testing after drinking coffee? I read it is 2 hours after first bite for food, but presumably that is too long for coffee/liquids? I don't drink a lot of coffee, just a couple of espresso Nespresso's in the morning which means the caffeine is quite intense.

I understand what you say, but the diet I adopted when I was diagnosed has actually brought my HBA1C down, so would like to think diet is not the factor here.

I am old enough and wise enough to know that alcohol and diabetes are not desirable attributes to have. Nor would I ever drink or suggest drinking as a help to diabetes. But what I am doing is trying to find reasons for why my readings have shot up when my diet hasn't changed over the last 3 years.
