    Grapes

https://www.nih.gov/news-events/nih-research-matters/how-high-fructose-intake-may-trigger-fatty-liver-disease <-- I think you might mean the fructose (fruit sugars)...? Which aren't anywhere near as healthy as we've been led to believe. Sorry.

    Grapes

Member @Antje77 uses the ones that grow in lush abundance by her front door, as hypo-treatment. That should tell you enough. ;) I thought, how bad can it be, right, when I was served two or three at a meal. And I hadn't had any in years, used to love them... But in no time at all, my heart was...

    Diabetes Type 2 - Positives

Let's see... 1. I'm not dead, which I was supposed to be 9 years or so ago, so yay for diagnosis, figuring out what was wrong, and doing something about it, before I kicked the proverbial bucket. 2. While energy's been an issue recently with a bunch of other conditions acting up, I still have...

Steroids - how to manage glucose rise

I'm with the others... Get the pro's involved to see what to do about the higher blood sugars. Three weeks is a long time to be uncontrolled, and the odds are it'll be a while (maybe weeks) for your blood sugars to normalise after you stop the prednisolone. Maybe get a CGM to keep an eye on...

    My First Hypo

Depends on the brand... Some have more sugar than others. You'd need about 15 to 20 grams of carbs/fast acting sugars to treat a hypo, so check the nutritional info of the brand you like. Because it could be the difference between having to eat eight, or three.

    My First Hypo

I'm not on insulin, but just in case you read up on false hypo's on the forum, in other threads... Mostly the advice one'd get, if not on insulin, is to ride it out with some fats and protein, so the body can get used to lower levels as quickly as possible. That goes completely out of the window...

    Cauliflower Rice

The lack of taste is what makes it versatile. Kind of like chicken. Doesn't taste like much, so you can do anything you want to it. :) Personally I've gone for loads of cheese, Italian or French herbs, curcuma/tumeric, lovage... Mixed it in with shawarma or gyros, ground beef or anything else...

    HbA1c result

Usually, on the forum, I'd advise people not to take supplements unless a blood test showed a massive deficit, and then to go with the doc's prescribed dosages... Vit D toxicity is a thing, as are other vitamins that can get stacked in the liver in toxic doses. So I know this. I do. I also read...

    HbA1c result

Go with your gut. (In the case of metformin, quite literally!) I was on metformin and gliclazide, and could ditch both because my diet got things sorted... But that's me. Conventional advice sayd once you're on diabetes medication, you're on it for life, but many, many people here have proved...

    HbA1c result

Hello Peter, Glad to be of some use. No need to wait, just make sure the pill has something to land on, rather than just the "bare" stomach lining. If that doesn't help, well, honestly... I'm not sure with your HbA1c, why you're still on metformin to begin with, really... Your numbers are...

Is diet along sometimes not enough to get to normal levels ?

This might sound silly, but how do you test? If you test right before a meal and 2 hours after the first bite, you're aiming for a rise of 2.0 mmol/l or less between those two numbers. You miss the spike that way, but you can tell whether your body could cope with what you put in there. If the...

Is diet along sometimes not enough to get to normal levels ?

Could be anything. Stress keeping your bloods up, your body being used to higher numbers so your liver helpfully dumping a little extra glucose in your system (which should resolve on its own), could be the sugar substitutes, the milk, etc... Personally I think you might want to wear a CGM for...

Can you just stop taking statins and metformin

If the question is, can I just stop without withdrawal symptoms, you should be able to, yes.
