    Finland in January

Just as an update in case anyone else has the same experience… my daughter knitted me a pouch with a neck strap, the size of my usual insulin case that I wore daily over my first 2 layers and under everything else. It got to -30° when we were out one night watching the northern lights (amazing...

Thanks, I’ll do that. It’s good to hear other people say what they have actually done and works. I assume my sensors will work being underneath clothing (I use libre 2) and I’ll keep my backup finger pricker in the hotel / indoors to be safe

    Finland in January

We are only there for 4 days. 2 nights in a hotel, 1 night in a glass igloo and a night in the ice hotel!!! I’m very excited by the trip but don’t want 4 days of worrying if my insulin will make it… yes, I think I may try and find something that straps to me without adding any more bulk than I’m...

    Finland in January

I have been searching the internet for how to keep my insulin safe while in an extreme cold climate. I think my late onset T1 was caused by extreme stress too. No history of diabetes in the family and diagnosed at 52 after a few years of what seemed like a living hell. Of course I'm still confronted with 'type 1? Are you sure?'

Type 1: On Holiday With Very High Reads

hi, I need some help with high reads (18/19 1st thing in the morning and through out the day) I'm on holiday in Corfu and it's very hot. I thought hot weather made the insulin more sensitive and so I was more likely to hypo while here so came stocked up with glucose tablets etc. But it's been...

Newly diagnosed type 1 at 52 years old

Good morning, yes I'm on novorapid too. I was told to take 1 unit of novorapid to 10g carbs but I've found I need a little more that 1 unit. And I take that after eating but I've just read below to take it 15 minutes before eating?

Newly diagnosed type 1 at 52 years old

hi, there have been no diabetics in my family before but at the grand old age of 52 I've been diagnosed with type 1. Obviously because of my age everyone assumed me to be type 2 but test results have confirmed me T1. I'm wheat intolerant but NOT coeliac and am struggling hugely with what I...
