    Levels dropping quickly

Hey all, This is what the diabetic nurse asked me too. I rotate my sites, don't have any lumps. On the Saturday I had a regular shepherds pie and a banana for after, on the Sunday I had chicken in breadcrumbs with sautéed potatoes and a yoghurt after. I wasn't that active on the Saturday but...

    Levels dropping quickly

Yes I washed my hands on both occasions. I also have something else going on the nurses are scratching their heads about, where I go to sleep at 8 or 11mmol and a few hours later I'm finding myself waking up at 3.2-3.4. This is after a regular, pretty chilled out day.

    Levels dropping quickly

Hi guys, The other day I tested at 4.15pm and was 8.6, then I tested again after only 15mins and was 5.9. Surely I shouldn't have dropped so much in such a short space of time? I didn't do anything too energetic other than walking to my car which was only a 2 min walk. Thanks

    Blurred vision and diabetes

Blurry vision in the evening was actually one of my symptoms when I was first diagnosed. Then once I was put on to insulin and my levels started to return to normal I lost my vision for about 6 weeks, it's an awful thing to go through needing reading glasses but your sight will come back once...

    Caught out with new lucozade

I tend to stick with Coke but I agree you would expect these companies to advertise something along the lines of "now with less sugar"

    Kit bag

Just wondering what everyone uses to carry al their kit around in? I've tried a few different cases and end up using many pockets if I'm going out for a meal or something like that, it's such a pain having to lug around a bag all he time though. I'm going to Mexico in May and will be heading...

    Testing sugar and fingers

I posted nearly exactly the same question a while ago [emoji5] I found if I try to keep to one hand per day (still end up forgetting which hand I'm on!) and use the sides of my fingers, keeping away from my thumb and index finger and looking for previous stab marks [emoji3]

    Best free iPhone apps

I used Diabetes Kit for a time which actually shows you graphs on activity levels and blood sugar and over time you get quite a lot of information this way. One drop is quite good too but does take a bit getting used to.

Newly diagnosed type 1, not a clue what I'm doing!

Thank you for that Steve, that was really informative - translated it into English [emoji4]

Newly diagnosed type 1, not a clue what I'm doing!

Thanks guys, as I'm so new to this I didn't really want to argue my case with them but I can perfectly understand what you're saying. A few of my friends offered to test their own blood after eating (using a different tester!) so I could see what a "normal" persons sugar levels were like. Sorry...

Newly diagnosed type 1, not a clue what I'm doing!

I was diagnosed in June last year and am still on the mixed insulin, morning and before and dinner. I can almost guarantee my blood sugar is 12-17mmol 2 hours after eating and I keep getting told by the "professionals" this is normal as everyones blood sugar goes up and down during the day...

What's your Diabetes story? (How did you find out you were diabetic?)

And just like you I had those nasty cramps too!

What's your Diabetes story? (How did you find out you were diabetic?)

I'm 32 and I was diagnosed in June this year. About a week before I had driven about 400 miles in France down to a racetrack for a trackday in my car. During this time I had noticed I had been losing quite a bit of weight but didn't think that much about it as this was the only symptom at this...

    Finger pricking getting painful

I make sure I change my needle every day, I'm trying really hard to remember which hand I'm using day to day and which finger too so that's probably not helping. I always keep to the sides and tend to stay away from my fore finger and thumb, I guess in time I'll get better at it.
