    As you say HbA1c is a long term measure of blood sugar so it’s not easy to shift it in three or four weeks. If you can give us an idea of what you are currently eating we can try and make some suggestions which may help.

    Hi and welcome to the forum, It would help our members comment if you could tell us what medication (type and dose) you have been given. In general being diagnosed with diabetes shouldn’t stop you working. What side effects if any you get from medication will depend what you have been prescribed.

    From my experience I can restrict my carbs but keep calories up by adding things like cheese, butter and cream.
