With the rise of T2 Diabetes why aren't food companies required to put the GI index on Carb rich foods like bread?

Hi @CarbMaster You could consider posting your recipe here for everyone to see https://www.diabetes.co.uk/forum/threads/post-your-recipes-here.2856/ Or if you prefer start your own thread in that forum for bread recipes….other people might have more to share. I’m sure plenty of people would...

With the rise of T2 Diabetes why aren't food companies required to put the GI index on Carb rich foods like bread?

A number of posts have been deleted as they are off topic. Please remember this post is about whether companies should list the GI index on foods which are high carb. It is not the place for a debate about low carb or low fat diets. Regards Lakeslover, on behalf of the mod team.

    Ketone Meters

I will just caveat my comments by saying I’m type 2 no it 3c, so what works for me may not be right for you. I suggest you go to your appointment with a list of written questions. One might be on splitting the Lantus dose. It works for me, but I did it because Lantus wasn’t working the full 24...

    Alcohol wipes

Abbott removed them from the packaging several years ago. I believe at the time they said it was because they are cheap and easy to buy over the counter.

    Hello

hi and welcome to the forum, If you are craving a salty snack try serious pig snacking cheese. It’s in some shops and also on Amazon. A good crunchy hit. There are also cheesies which are similar. Or of course pork scratchings which are crunchy, salty, and shouldn’t raise your blood sugar.

    Ketone Meters

Can you phone your diabetic nurse for an opinion? They maybe able to test you or give you a meter to see how high your ketones are. Or if not call 111 and see what they advise.

    Great places to eat

There are very few chains near me, and not many places that charge for sides separately (wouldn’t go down too well here in the north). I have found most places are very accommodating if I ask to swap chips, potatoes etc with extra veg or salad. The most difficult places I find are lunch stops...

Libre 2 Plus trial v Dexcom 1+ trial

Unfortunately most type 2 diabetics are not able to get a CGM on the nhs. It is possible for some type 2s using more than one insulin.

    Fit for purpose????

I’m using the libre 2+. I’ve had one failure in the last 18 months which was a sensor which didn’t start at all. Abbott replaced it with no issues.

    Injections

Hi, I managed to convince my diabetic nurse to move me from just a basal (long acting) insulin twice a day to a MDI regime in January. It was the best thing I did. Although I was already carb counting to try and control my blood sugar….which wasn’t working. For the carb counting itself there...

    Neuropathy, acupuncture, duloxetine

Hi, I have mild neuropathy and definitely notice it is worse when I’m hot, particularly in bed at night. I can’t comment on possible treatments as I haven’t tried any yet. But I just wanted to let you know it’s fine to ask on the forum for opinions on whether acupuncture may help you with...
