    Not interacting with the forum

I understand the cooking thing, it can just seem like too much effort day after day. How about picking one day when you feel okish and cooking a large batch of curry then freezing in portions. Then All you have to do is pull a portion out and reheat it with a ready made portion of cauliflower...

    Insulin requirements going sky high

Life is tough sometimes. It’s good that your wife is nearer to home. Perhaps that will give you a chance to improve your control a bit, but don’t beat yourself up over it. Hopefully you have already been put in touch with occupational therapists who can help with what adaptations can be done...

    Insulin requirements going sky high

I’ve been where you are now, with a husband with lung cancer. I agree the stress and uncertainty caused by the situation play havoc with blood sugars, not to mention trying to plan meals and eat with everything else going on. Oh, and then there’s the added stress of wanting to go to the hospital...

    Reversal of diabetes (t2)

I think if you are still taking medicine which lowers your blood sugar like wegovy then the doctors are unlikely to consider your diabetes in remission, it is however very well controlled. Is it possible your weight loss has stalled because you are less active? Could you discuss this with the...

    Puemonia jab

I have had the jab, and my husband has as well. Neither of us had any reaction to it. I was also told it was a one off jab. Of course there’s no way of knowing whether you would have a reaction or not but the NHS says severe reactions are rare. https://www.nhs.uk/vaccinations/pneumococcal-vaccine/

    Libra2+ Sensor

I use a clear waterproof Tegaderm dressing over mine, you can buy packs of them on Amazon. It usually stays on the full 15 days. There are other dressings and covers available too.

    Travel insurance cost

I use Staysure for annual travel insurance. The cost has been reasonable for me, but I’ve never had to claim so can’t comment on their claims service. I’ve also used all clear and insurance with in the past.

Type 1 Freestyle Libra 2 Plus

I went through the brand new scanners at Newcastle after the security lady told me they were safe. I didn’t have any problems with the sensor at all.

    LONG HYPO!!

The only way to know if this is a genuine hypo or not is to test with your meter when the alarm goes off.

    Struggling

Are you sure she intended to put you on empaglifloxin and dapaglifloxine together? Both these drugs work in a similar way and I’ve never heard of people being prescribed both. I’m not medically trained though so I could be wrong. Please check with your pharmacist before taking both just in case.

First time drinking since diagnosis - what to do?

Probably too late for tomorrow but I wear a medic alert bracelet at all times so ambulance crew or other medical staff know immediately that I am on insulin.

Libre Sensors coming off in the heat

If you look on their website they have an online form to fill in to request a replacement. I find that easier than phoning.

    Spike after breakfast

All of the things you mention would cause spikes for me because of the level of carbs. If your preference is for toast then there are low carb breads available on line. They are expensive though. I like a low carb sourdough made by a company called Robert Andrew, but it isn’t the lowest...
