Anyone having big reliability issues with Freestyle Libre 2 Plus sensors?

You can buy them directly from Abbott. https://www.freestyle.abbott/uk-en/products/freestyle-libre-2.html Don’t forget to tick the box for a vat exemption.

Hi I’m julieclarke I’ve joined to find out more about T2 diabetes

I had quiche tonight with salad. When it’s really hot I don’t feel like much. I might have cold chicken, tuna mayonnaise, hard boiled eggs and cheese, with salad and maybe some new potatoes or potato salad, or just some nice bread.

Hi I’m julieclarke I’ve joined to find out more about T2 diabetes

I find if I’m out sitting in the sun too long my blood sugar goes up. But if I’m exercising in the sun it can fall very quickly.

I use Staysure who are well known for covering people with medical conditions. I have never had to claim so can’t comment on their claims handling though.

Surely this must be a faulty sensor

Impossible to know without a finger prick. But stress can increase blood sugar, so if it was a bad nightmare maybe it can do this. That would explain the speed it came down as well, presumably as you relaxed after coming out of the dream. Has it been ok since? If so I’d guess the sensor is ok...

    Food eating order

Of course it’s not a crime to eat carbs. But you are asking about what causes blood sugar spikes. Unfortunately in connection with diet the answer is carbs…..of all types. You might find this website interesting, from a UK GP practice https://lowcarbfreshwell.com/about/

    Food eating order

Toujeo is a long acting insulin, it’s designed to keep your blood sugar steady when you are not eating. But it’s not intended to deal with blood sugar spikes after meals. Salad is fine (leaves, onion, cucumber a few tomatoes). But it doesn’t act to reduce the effect of anything else you eat.

    Food eating order

I find the order of eating foods doesn’t make much difference for me. From what you ate couscous, grapes, oranges, and chips would all produce a spike. pizza does tend to give me a delayed spike. I think probably because of the amount of fat involved. Eating all of those carbs together would...

Has anyone gone on gliclazide and come off Metformin?

I reduced my Metformin and added Gliclazide 11 years ago. It worked for several years but with hindsight it didn’t give me ideal HbA1c…..and then it didn’t work at all. I’m now on insulin with much better control, and the ability to eat a few more carbs when I want to. I wish I’d opted for...

Hi I’m julieclarke I’ve joined to find out more about T2 diabetes

We went to Morrisons and picked up a pork leg roasting joint. Enough to feed two of us for two meals for just under £3. So that’s Sunday lunch sorted, and cold pork Monday too.

    Newbie Type 2

You mention you are food combining and eating in a certain order. Neither of those make much difference to me. What I find makes a difference is the amount of carbs I eat. The type of carbs can mean slightly faster or slower absorption, but it’s definitely the amount that’s the key. Toujeo...

Paying VAT? RNIB floor standing light, specifically….

I’ve had background retinopathy for 15 years. It has never impacted my vision and therefore I don’t need any aids to help. I would think that to reclaim the vat you would need to be visually impaired. Do RNIB have a helpline you could call for advice?
