I should also say that I tested with a meter all through September and then sporadically in October. I was also noting down everything I was eating. It ended up making me a little obsessed, so I stopped! I still test occasionally, especially if I am worried something will spike my BG, but I'm...

Just wanted to let you all know about my latest blood tests, since you were so kind and helpful when I was diagnosed in August. So my first HbA1c in mid August was 89. I came straight on here and read up voraciously. Since then I have been sticking to the low carb regime; I wouldn't say it was...

    Mid -morning BG levels high

Thanks ZedZedZet & Resurgam! That's very interesting. I am trying two small slices of homemade low carb seed toast & peanut butter this morning. My BG went up from 10.2 at 7.20am to 13.2 at 8.30am (without even having had tea) this morning. I will have to see what happens at midday after having...

    Mid -morning BG levels high

Hi Daphne, Thank you for replying! I don't think so, but I fit the profile for T2 so I am assuming the GP has made the call. He's happy for me to try to bring my numbers down on diet alone for 2 or 3 months. (First HbAc1 was 89, second a fortnight later was 77; at this point I'd been low carb...

    Mid -morning BG levels high

Hello! I have been eating low carb for about a month now. It's going well. I am taking daily rehydration salts and keeping to below 50g carb a day. On advice given here I've got a meter and testing strips and have tested at intervals over the last few days. So now I can see what my blood glucose...

Thanks everyone who replied! You've made me feel both better informed and reassured. I had my appointment at the surgery today, and it went pretty well. They'd swapped seeing the diabetes team nurse for an appointment with the doctor so I was a bit worried it would be A Serious Talk, but...

    Feeling downhearted

I've been using his old and recently superseded meter, which wouldn't be downloaded at appointments; I wouldn't have scuppered any readings that were going to the hospital. :) Good to know that the next HbA1c reading won't have been much affected by the last 3 weeks.

No, I haven't been testing except for the 3 times at the beginning, and then today, because I don't want to use up my son's strips! I should get my own really... It's good to know that it might take a while. Is it worth going on Metformin in the meantime? I know that's what they will expect me...

    Feeling downhearted

I really appreciated everyone's advice and support on my first post (written after a phone call with the nurse who started off telling me my condition was 'down to my lifestyle') and I'm now 3 weeks into my new diet regime. To recap briefly, my son is T1 and I asked him to check my BS 3 weeks...
