    SWINE FLU THREAD

My experience has been very similar to those reported by others. Usual discomfort followed by intense burning sensation, local swelling and soreness for about 72 hours. Thereafter all seems to be OK. I now trust that I do not catch H1N1 but if I do the effects should be minimised.

    What lead to your diagnosis?

Hi, One and all I have read the blogs above and reckon I should count myself very lucky. In August 2005, when I was 70, the local Lions Club, in conjunction with a local hospital, was offering blood glucose tests to any passer-by who wanted one. I had a test, which did not seem satisfactory to...

    Winning the test strip battle.

Just after initial diagnosis, (Type 2 in December 2005), my GP advised me to test every other day and when he was completely satisfied that I had my bG under control he amended this to every third day. This is still the case. My bG floats between 5.5 and 6.5 with occasional excursions into the...

    Where to buy test strips?

Well written, Catherinecherub, January 29 8.58pm. I was diagnosed Type 2 in October 2005 with a blood glucose reading of 11.8 and an HbA1c a bit higher than that. My GP suggested that I ‘treated myself’ to a blood test meter since, he said, this would enable me to keep better control of my...

The new chat room is excellent and a much better, uncluttered site. Oh for the day when the format used there is used for all threads on the forum!!

Well said, Marz Barr Tesco (and Sainsbury too) market very tasty reduced sugar jams which really are low sugar and do not contain too much artificial sweetener. Beware the so called "sugar free" which I have seen in garden centres. They do not have as much sugar as ordinary jams but do...
