    Stomach pain with LADA

Hei Andrea, I was diagnosed as Type 1 3 years ago, at age 68, after undergoing investigations for..let’s call it ‘gippy tummy’. Had a colonoscopy and a pelvic region CT scan, which just showed some inflammation, a month later a blood test revealed a very high blood sugar and I was admitted to...

Are more people getting Type 1 in their late twenties and early thirties?

Can remember being told this by my grandfather, who I very recently found out had Type 1 diabetes. I was about 7 at the time, with no idea what it meant! I assume grandad was diagnosed later in life, since he was born many years before the development/discovery? of insulin… I was diagnosed 3...

Advice please re blood glucose monitoring

Have had similar problems on holiday in warm places… have purchased large plasters for wounds to hold a Libre 2 in place. My DN at home gave me some wonderful see Through sticky patches I used to use when swimming , but have not been able to track them down anywhere. before you apply the new CGM...

Are more people getting Type 1 in their late twenties and early thirties?

I was diagnosed at age 68. Was told in the Emergency room I would be on insulin for the rest of my life……and I just assumed I had developed Type 2 diabetes. Asked pathetically if I could quit the insulin if I lost some more weight, ate better and exercised more…was told … No! Spent 5 days in...

Effect of loss of blood on sugar levels?

It’s good the consultant understood your travel issues and is trying to fix an overnight and early morning appointment for you. I too live a ferry ride away from the hospital, or a 10 minute air ambulance ride in extremis! Had to have a colonoscopy a few years ago, which is restricted diet for...

Effect of loss of blood on sugar levels?

Hei Grant, hope things are better for you this morning. Can see you don’t like medics, especially ones brandishing needles at you.. but I think losing blood needs to be investigated ASAP. Have you got a friend or family member can go with you to an A&E or whatever the local emergency care...

    Low blood sugars

Hei, I am using Libre 3+ and generally rely on its readings. Fit the new one about 24 hours before the old one is due to expire. Can feel my blood sugar levels changing, but not always sure if they are going up or down. A couple of weeks ago my sensor was about 10:days in and started showing...

Type 2 hypo on Freestyle libre 2 plus?

CGM’s are often unreliable for the first 24 hours of being started up, and they can also give a false low if you are sleeping or resting on the side of the body to which they are attached. called compression low. Also not everything is diabetes related. Is there any way you can get a blood...

    What type am I?

My understanding is that there are more types of diabetes apart from 1 and 2. Have you come across something called MODY? Think it is an acronym for something like Mature Onset of Diabetes in the young. Can’t remember off the top of my head what the parameters are for it presenting..how young...

    Bracelet/necklace warning I'm T2 on insulin

I bought one from a little stand in the middle of the shopping centre where my family live in the UK. It is a stainless steel strip on an adjustable rubber bracelet, I have tiny wrists. I gather replacement straps are available on Amazon. Was advised to have my name on it, evidently if you pass...

    Novooen

Was so happy with my novopen echo pluses, but then the health authority switched my CGMs to Libre 3 and then Libre 3 plus and the app for those does not work with the Novo pens! The pens still ‘remember’ when and what dose I took, but I have to enter the data manually in the Libre 3 app. Some...

    The good old days, weren't.

Wow guys, what an incredible humbling thread. Hats off to all of you. Very grateful to only have been diagnosed 3 years ago, and can recall at the time thinking I was lucky to have been diagnosed so late in life. I decided on diagnosis I would never eat anything labelled diabetic or inject...

Microwavable meals to bring to work, give me all your ideas!

Congratulations on your new job. have you discovered the delights of lentils? Was served a dinner of them this week, with some good old English sausages in, but they did wonders for my blood sugar. They maybe need some work with the herbs and spices. I remember they were served when I was in...

    Intemetent drop in sugar level

Hei, welcome to the forums. Don’t think we are allowed to offer ‘medical’ advice.. and I think changing your basal insulin would come under that. But if you have gone from sofa surfing to gym bunny, then yes you are probably going to need less insulin. When I noticed my waking blood sugar...

    sweet option

If you’re making it yourself you can cut down on the bread, sugar and dried fruit and step up the egg mixture, to cut down the carbs. Maybe consider making an individual portion? If somebody else is making it/has made it, then a small portion? Well that’s this evening’s pudding sorted out!
