Is my type 2 getting worse

Doc tells me I don't need to test and when I tried to get a prescription for cartridges, they weren't even listed, so I cant test. Ive been trying to get an appointment with the doc for a week but cant get an appointment. There are other health issues that may have a link. I do have a kidney...

Is my type 2 getting worse

I have noticed recently that I need to drink a lot more than usual. To the point where I would rather drink than eat. My wife said your diabetes might not be controlled. I had to go along to a+e the other week due to a kidney stone causing problems, they tested my blood and said it was 7.4 which...

    Accu-check mobile cartridges

Thanks for all the replies. I have had them off my previous doctor/practice, but we changed doctor about 12 month ago. This is my first request so I don't know why they're not on the system, but I will try passing that PIP code onto them and see if they find them on the system. I bet the...

    Accu-check mobile cartridges

Good morning all, I asked my doctor for a prescription of cartridges for my Accu-check mobile monitor yesterday and was told they don't have them listed on their system. This is the first time I've needed any as I don't generally need to test. But there's a few complications at the moment and I...

Anonymous Question Is my flatulence to do with diabetes?

I had eggy burps for years then went to the doctor who kindly requested a gastroscopy (camera down the gullet). That found the problem-an ulcerated hiatus hernia. They put me on tablets for it (Nexium 20mg) and it controlled it. This was a few years before being diagnosed type 2 diabetic...

    lapel badge in the shop

Hi all, Does anybody know if the lapel badge that is for sale in the shop (2.99) is recognised by health proffesionals or is it simply a sign that we are a member of this community? Basically, if I wore one on my work uniform, would a paramedic know instantly that I was diabetic? Thanks all.

    Abbot Freestyle freedom light-error

I received my first monitor yesterday and did my first test. I put the strip in as directed but when I tried to apply my blood, I got an error 03 message. So I tried it again but needed to use a new strip. I got the same error code. I havent done any more tests as you dont get many strips...

Another question-cos you lot are good at giving answers

As much as I like meat, youve go to have some spuds with it or rice or pasta. Plenty of good advice taken on board and clearly the only way of finding out how things are reacting is simply to start testing the blood. The only thing then is remembering to do it 2 hours after a meal-its hard...

Another question-cos you lot are good at giving answers

So really, its a case of trial and error and testing the BS to see which keeps it low, high or inbetween. Im sure the diabetic dietician will have a completely different view. Its difficult maintaining the right balance and losing weight as well. There doesnt seem to be a happy medium.

Another question-cos you lot are good at giving answers

Is carbohydrate good or bad for diabetes type 2? I go to fitness/diet group every week and last night I showed the trainer my food diary for the last 2 days. He said I had a lot of carbohydrate throughout the day. Now I thought with diabetes, you need more carbs. Im baffled by it all...

    Blood Glucose Monitors

Perhaps to make thing easier to pack, the round tube that contains the strips could be made square and flatter. Im no engineer or designer but surely squarer goes flatter.

    type 2 and kidney stones

Being newly diagnosed as type 2 diabetic, questions keep popping in to my head, so here's another one. I suffer with kidney stones, I have a small one at the moment that gives pain occasionally. I understand that diabetes can have an effect on the kidneys, so, could my diabetes have any effect...

    Alternatives to weetabix??

I find that a small amount of hot milk makes shredded wheat (big or small) moist. In fact I bought some mini shredded wheat from Aldi today to try as Im getting bored of weetabix every morning. Thing is, at 3am its hard to make any food decision, but I have to eat then to take the metformin...

    Problems with employers?

Re: Problems with employers? Ive told my bosses and its been taken on board without any issues-so far. I drive a 7.5 tonner for a very well known international company. I think, as long as its under control, they wont be too bothered. They might ask how its going and if Im fine with it but I...
