    Frozen shoulder

I've had it 3 times, twice on the left shoulder, once on the right, each time it has taken around 18 months to heal, I do have the vast majority of my range of movement in both shoulders, but I did loose a lot of muscle, which hasn't come back from normal use. I did have physio for a while but I...

    T2 Medication

Gliclazide started working for me within a day, metformin i'm not so sure as it never did more than knock a point or 2 off my level. Reducing carbs will lower blood sugars remarkably quickly, how much depends on the individual and the amount of carbs eaten.

Am I right to be concerned?

dont be too worried just yet, it's important to get your levels under control to avoid the possible consequences of prolonged high levels. You will need to watch you eat, no diabetes medication is likely to control levels if you give your body more carbs than it can cope with. I like others who...

    Head in the sand syndrome

The thing to remember with diabetes is that controlling your levels is not as simple as controlling what you eat, i've eaten the same foods at the same time for a week in the past and my readings varied greatly for day to day, I started my low carbing again on the 27th December 2016, and it's...

Type 2 Spikes for a Dummy

Spikes are the increase in your sugar levels from pre prandial (before food) and post pradial(after food) readings, spikes are generally used to describe a reading that it higher than expected or wanted. You want to reduce the spiking so that you maintain a even and preferably low blood sugar...

    Diabetic maculopathy

I was diagnosed with retinopathy in Jan 2016 and maculopathy in October 2016, it basically means there is some damage to the macula in my case I have macula edema in both eyes which the blood vessels in the macular part of the eye are leaking, either fats or blood, or a mixture which can cause...

    Metformin and abdominal pain

I was originally put on januvia and gliclazide, which did make quite a difference in levels but more importantly i had no side effects. My control was still not good enough so the januvia was replaced with bydureon which is a weekly injection. I'm now at tye point where as long as i watch carbs...

    Head in the sand syndrome

Have you tried greek yoghurt with a teaspoon of honey, i've found that it hardly causes any rise in levels, i have about 85g of fage total full fat yoghurt, gives just a little bit of sweetness and keeps the choccy monster at bay

Finger prick testing v Dr review

I was advised by my quack that T2 can lead to depression so I shouldn't test, what i have learnt is that he doesn't want the expense of prescribing them, even when I was put on gliclazide he still did not prescribe them even though they can cause hypos and i drive every day. Since then i have...

    Head in the sand syndrome

Heya, i'm glad you had a good day and your levels dropped, well done on resisting temptation, I succumbed today and had a bar of lindor (like the balls if you have ever had them) and I found it tasted awful, this used to be one of my favourites and within a month my taste has changed which has...
