    Diabetes epilepsy

Been diagnosed for about 5 years now. I know my sugar highs are related to the menstrual cycle, though being menopausal it is anyones guess as to what is happening that direction I have had a couple of eposodes of where I have passed out, my legs just gave way. I was not comatosed, but not...

    Metformin at breakfast

metformin has the side effect of giving you the runs. Over time many people adjust and it stops having this effect. Each person is different as to the time of day they take it as to when it minimises the side effects. for me it is first time in at break fast, then lunchtime, but nothing in the...

    Unhealed ulcer - aloe vera

regarding the cut on the heel, I have suffered similar for years, long before being a diabetic, mainly due to my love of walking either barefoot or not wearing socks, so the skin on the heels was always tough and would split and take a long time to heel up. I found cutting off the thick skin...

    Unhealed ulcer - aloe vera

The toe ulcer was ultimately how I got diagnosed with diabetes, the consequence of wearing a cheap pair of crocs that caused a blister. This was despite having been 4 times admitted with high glucose levels and told it was probably pancreatitis (despite MIR and CT scans showing none of it -...

    Exceptionally tired since starting insulin

BG levels are now completely in range in fact one nurse wants me to reduce the insulin as she thinks it is too well controlled. Carbohydrates have been drastically reduced even though they were never high prior to diagnosis. So it cannot be that.

    Exceptionally tired since starting insulin

thanks. I have since found out that possibly part of the problem is magnesium deficiency. .6 (normal range is above .7) despite taking supplements I am still only .62 I know that both insulin and metformin can effect magnesium levels which in turn can make you tired. I am not sure what to do...

    Magnesium deficiency

Just come out of hospital after having been taken in by ambulance thinking I was having the start of a heart attack. I had not been feeling well since I started on insulin 3 months ago and then later on metformin and even worse when the dose was increased. I had absolutely no energy, but also...

    Exceptionally tired since starting insulin

I don't think it is carb content in my diet, I always knew I was at risk of diabetes for many years so have always followed a lowish carb diet. A couple of bad habits had crept in (OH likes have sweets in the car when we go on long journeys, and I like pastry a lot and drank a lot of fresh...

    Exceptionally tired since starting insulin

I was diagnosed about 3 months ago following a HB1 level of 120 and instantly started on Lantus. (Since then metformin) Since then my energy levels have been exceptionally low, although my levels have now reduced to 48, I have no energy, I fall asleep during the day, have headaches and bruise...

Do you tell people you have diabetes?

I was initially diagnosed with type 1 diabetes and close friends I told the information to. It has since been changed to probably type 2. I have not told them otherwise as I feel there is a huge stigma attached to type 2 especially in NZ, it as seen as a self inflicted disease. So if my diabetic...

    New diagnosis/vomiting vs pancreatitis

I am an expat in NZ. I was diagnosed today with type 1 diabetes after many years of symptoms. I always knew diabetes would catch up with me eventually, but I assumed it would be type 2. I have taken metformin in the past for PCOS and then when we were trying to conceive I was given a very high...
