    Newcastle study- old guinea pig

Hit the wrong button - no big fluctuations despite a weight gain and then loss of a stone in a 6 month period which suggests that as long as you don't let the weight hang around too long it doesn't pack in around the pancreas and undo the good work.

    Newcastle study- old guinea pig

I can't really wrap my head around the HbA1c - my GP can but can't remember how to relate it to the old system. It's been between 47 and 51 the last few times which she says is in line with the old results. She seems to think that consistent results are a good thing - no big fluctuations.

Sorry for the delay in updating - life gets in the way of these things at times. To answer that question, which I didn't see til I looked at the forum today to update, I was doing 2 Pilates sessions and 2 swimming sessions of 800m on a good week - one of each on a bad week and none at all in...

    Newcastle study- old guinea pig

I've put 10lb back on of the 2st 8lb I lost on the diet. Can't remember the Drs reading , and anyway the way they measure it has changed- today's test result was 47 which is about right. My FB is usually around 5, whereas when I started the diet it was 9+. I haven't excluded any foods but I...

Re: Newcastle study- new guinea pig Should rename this 'old guinea pig'. Update 2 years on from my Newcastle diet. MOT today, weight and BS slightly up, nothing to write home about. Cholesterol BP etc all fine. So still ok 2 years on. Have had to give up the Zumba classes because my knees...

Have you cured or reversed type 2

Female, early 50s. I already had my 3 children when diagnosed, so I can't help you on the fertility thing!

Have you cured or reversed type 2

Fairly typical reaction. My sister is type 1 and spent years struggling with her weight under a dietician who preached the high carb gospel. She's lost several stones since the lady in question retired, and vastly improved her control of her blood sugars. A friend was recently diagnosed with...

Have you cured or reversed type 2

If you look at my 'guinea pig ' thread you will see that after doing the Newcastle Diet absolutely rigorously in autumn 2011 I managed to get my blood sugars back to a normal level. 12 months later my GP did the usual MOT blood tests etc and everything was still normal. I had regained 10lb of...

    Newcastle study- old guinea pig

Re: Newcastle study- new guinea pig No, no constipation, but I ate a lot of celery which has so much fibre you have to pick it out of your teeth! I'm not a gym rat myself, and according to,the newspapers housework does count! I did a lot of it on the diet- cant eat if you're elbow deep in...

    Newcastle study- old guinea pig

Re: Newcastle study- new guinea pig Sorry busy time of year. Three days in is very early - I wouldn't worry too much about the BS levels- if you look at my posts there were times when the BS were discouraging, but if you keep going it evens out over time. We're human beings not machines and...

    Newcastle study- old guinea pig

Re: Newcastle study- new guinea pig An update - a year after finishing the diet I had my annual check up today. I haven't had another go at the diet, and have put on about 10lb of the weight lost last year, but have been mostly eating sensibly, exercising moderately, still no meds for the...

    Trying a Slimfast diet

I am about 4-5 lb up on where I was at the end of my NS diet. I was going to have another go in Feb but the temperature dropped, my back and knees didn't like it so the exercise element went out of the window and I got a fit of the NY miseries- not proper depression , just the blues you get when...

starting newcastle diet on 2nd jan

You're doing so well- keep it up! On the exercise point, my sister is type 1 and uses the gym- she finds that a core strength gym session brings the bg down and cardio sessions send it up.
