Plummeting BS values - Weather related??

Don't panic! I've also had this for over 50 years. The trouble with me is that in the heat, it starts swinging between too high and too low throughout the day. My BG is usually well controlled but in this weather it's like a Newton's Cradle with one of the strings cut! You just have to ride with...

    VAT exemption on diabetic products

I suspected that that would be the case. Given the fact that insulin, syringes, test strips and most medical equipment are available on prescription, that leaves very little left on your VAT receipt!

    VAT exemption on diabetic products

Hi all. Just seen your item about VAT exemptions, and straight away I have a question: You say that a tub of glucose tablets isn't exempt (which I think is a bit mean), but what happens with a hypo wallet, which comes with glucose tablets, shots and Glucogel tubes included? Also, what about any...

    HBA1c units confusion

Hi all. Having moved to Norfolk from London, I'm being looked after by a different health authority, who are using the 'new' system of units for HBA1c measurement. I've been T1 for 50 years and the only system I know has numbers like 6.7, 7.8 etc. Now I'm being presented with results of 46...

    No more funded test strips

I read this post with disbelief!! The NHS would rather have phave to treat people with heart disease, blindness and amputations than provide them with a simple aid to help prevention?

Why Can't I Sort Myself Out?!

The thing that always used to get me down was diabetic nurses telling me off for having blood sugars slightly higher than the figures they had written down. It still goes on as my mum-in-law will attest. Try not to fret too much. You'll get it sorted out eventually - it doesn't happen...

Why Do Bg Levels Go Up And Down Apparently For No Reason

Could be the hot weather affecting it? Mine goes up and down like a yo-yo in heat. the doctors have always acknowledged this but are always at a loss to explain why it happens.

    Storing Insulin In This Weather

I was always told that providing it's not in direct sunlight or on top of a radiator then it was ok. One thing that does concern me is for how long you can keep it in the Frio pack before you have to dry it out? I don't like the idea of something being damp and in a warm place for a prolonged...

    2in1 Smart Glucometer

That's interesting to know mate. But I tested mine using the strips that came with it (there were only 10), and a fresh pack from a sealed box. So it didn't work for me. I didn't like the cavalier attitude of the guy I spoke to either. I had to get Amazon to refund the return postage, as he...
