    Turmeric health benefit

I use it often, I buy it in 1kg bags from my local Asian supermarket for not much more than you can buy a little fancy jar of it to sit in your spice rack. They often call it "Haldi", we call it Turmeric. You really need to mix it with a fat containing food to get the bioavailability, and black...

    Fixed my sleep problems !

Well I got my D results back within 5 days this time so looks like they've got their issues sorted at the lab :) But the bad news is that I was expecting to be higher, but in fact I've dropped from 115 to 102 over the last 2 months, 5000 IU's per day plus sensible sun exposure isn't enough to...

    Fixed my sleep problems !

Thanks for letting me know, that's encouraging. Yes, it's doesn't help that it's all in 1000 unit "blocks" - it makes it sound a huge amount. I'm happy I went with it, loving the extra sleep and not feeling grumpy during the day. If I get any other health benefits then that will be the icing...

    Fixed my sleep problems !

I had a starting level of 46. From memory I took 16000 IU's per day for the first month, then 14000 a day for the second month which got me up to 195 then I reckoned on 4000 units a day for the 3rd month to keep me level, but i found I'd dropped to 115 a month later, so I've upped it to 5000...

Is anyone trying out the poseidon study for themselves ?

Greens, nuts, oily fish - yes. Gas :D - no. Gas does come out though ! I looked up some food info, the food with the highest amount of EPA / DHA is Salmon or Mackerel. For me to get 12600 mg I would have to eat 1.3 lbs or over 1/2 a kilo of fish every day ! Now I do like a bit of fish...

Is anyone trying out the poseidon study for themselves ?

Yes, I'm 25yrs T1, so would have been out of scope for that study - They were doing 50% still in the honeymoon phase and 50% with an upper limit of 10 years from diagnosis if I read the paper right.. Still - I thought it might be worth a shot esp as I'm fully loaded up with vit D anyway, and...

Is anyone trying out the poseidon study for themselves ?

Hi - I came across some information on the Poseidon study the other day whilst looking up information on vitamin D. https://www.diabetesresearch.org/DRI-launches-POSEIDON-clinical-trial-to-explore-the-effects-of-omega-3-and-vitamin-d-in-type-1-diabetes Now I'm just wondering if anyone is...

    Fixed my sleep problems !

Yes, it ain't cheap. The way I saw it I was so hacked off with poor sleep and feeling miserable I had made the decision to go through with it, and I figured I would do it right. Plus I had some spare cash as for some strange reason I have found I haven't been going to pubs / restaurants or...

    Fixed my sleep problems !

I just have 2000 unit capsules, but I do 5000 units per day by alternating 4000 one day and 6000 the next. Easy to do if you have one of those weekly tablet organizer things. It takes a few days for your body to convert the D anyway so it all averages out. Dave.

    Fixed my sleep problems !

I have been using this one as well - ^^^^^ https://www.vitamindtest.org.uk/ but the sheer demand due to covid plus the latest interest in vit D levels from many other angles of healthcare, not just diabetes has meant long waiting times for the results to come back which makes it hard to titrate...

    Fixed my sleep problems !

Good D level there ;) - I assume you've been supplementing if you're in the UK ? or having good sun exposure otherwise ?

    Fixed my sleep problems !

If you're going to try this, you need to do your research & do it properly, please don't just go and take a ton of vitamins without checking your blood level. You will need a vit D blood level every month for at least the first 4 months so you can get it into the right level for sleep, and then...

    Fixed my sleep problems !

Just thought I'd put this out there in case there's anyone else not getting a proper nights sleep. Quick background - I've never been a great sleeper, but it started getting worse during 2020 and by November / December I was often waking at 2 - 3 in the morning and it sometimes took another 2...

Type 2 Abbott Freestyle Libre Skin Rash After 10 Months Usage

Just a quick update - Bought one, got the full 14 days out of it, no rash, results a lot closer to my finger prick readings than previous libre sensors. Looks like they have indeed solved the adhesive reaction issue. Thanks again - Dave.
