A bit of my background for you:
I had blood tests done in November and other than low iron level it was ok. I was told to repeat them after 6 weeks. At the beginning of January I had covid. After I came out of isolation I went to have my blood tests done.
I got a call from my gp on the 7th of...
Thank you for kind suggestions. Since I was discharged from hospital I only had once level of 14 at home. It was in a first week back home. My levels are between 7 and 9 now.
Writing about sugar level 14 I simply was referring to the advice I was given by the nurse.
My main wonder is whether...
@NicoleC1971 thank you for your reply. I think I am giving doctors a headache why I collapsed being type 2. I had covid at the beginning of the year too..
I will be under consultant care for now. My diabetic nurse specialist said that type 2 usually goes under GP care but she is going to reffer...
Hello, at the beginning of Feb I went into DKA. I only found out I was diabetic a day before that. I took 2 tablets of Metformin and a day after I collapsed. I am on insulin now (4 injections a day). My GAD and IA2 tests were negative. My c-peptide were within norm. I was told I might be Ketosis...

@becca59 I am 32, no family history of diabetes, doctors weren't sure what type I was. I had ketones in my blood and spent a week at the hospital and I was given 8 drips of fluid. They sent blood samples for gad antibody and c peptide. At the moment I have been discharged from the hospital care...
@EllieM thank you, I could just possibly get a spare one but the same brand then.
Yes I am on insulin. On the 7th of Feb I found out I had diabetes. Started with Medformin. On the 8th of Feb I collapsed and was taken to the hospital by an ambulance. I went into DKA and they put me on the...
@Mrs HJG exactly my thoughts, I must have been existing on very high numbers for weeks or months without realisation and I survived so I probably would survive a day or two without glucometer. Thank you for understanding. That was actually very helpful.
I have been having trouble concentrating...
Thank you for replies
@Mrs HJG I am absolutely happy with the one they gave me but I don't have any knowledge or experience with glucometer hence me asking.
I am still learning how to use it properly and I waste lots of strips as I squeeze not enough blood.
I was thinking of getting a spare...

What glucometer did you get for free on prescription please? (Or from diabetic clinic) (uk)
I was given GlucoMen Areo and I get strips on prescription for it.
Are there any other brands available through gp please?
Will I get another one if this one stops working?
If I get...
Thank you for your replies.
