    Keto and Dawn Phenomenon!

I have just re- read all of this and realize it is still pretty much the same! Except that now I have dropped gliclazide completely. However, I am waking with BG of 10 - 13mml! I have OMAD about 6-7pm, keeping below 20g carbs, but I am still waking 4 -5 am with (I guess) a liver dump. My...

    Keto and Dawn Phenomenon!

Some people call it a 'liver dump' and my understanding is that your BG goes low so your liver goes 'eek, have some sugar!!' and it makes your numbers go up; you can have sweats as someone mentioned, shivers, headache or just wake (wide awake)! I am doing this at 3.00 - 4.00 am and not able to...

    Keto and Dawn Phenomenon!

I have been LCHF for years and generally good at keeping numbers down. I have also done Keto before. After a 'bad' summer; holidays, illness and an operation I thought I would go Keto for now. I have been on under 20g carbs this week and in ketosis for a few days. I have lost 5lbs! Hooray...

    LCHF and 'Dawn Phenomenon'?

I don't think I have too much protein, but I probably need to be more careful totaling things up. I had pork & vege stir fry for tea last night with Greek yoghurt for pudding (about 8.00pm) and then nothing until lunch time (as is usual) today

    LCHF and 'Dawn Phenomenon'?

Thanks for all your ideas. Fasted 20/13 then I had avocado, parma ham and cheese for lunch yesterday, pork and vege stir fry for dinner with Greek yoghurt for pudding. No white carbs at all (not had a potato for weeks). I thought that was LCHF enough!

    LCHF and 'Dawn Phenomenon'?

Thank you! Actually, this sounds right! I was (as they suggest in the article) assuming that I was waking due to low sugars and then the liver was dumping on me causing high numbers later as I get up - I thought this was the 'dawn phenomenon'. I will see if I can be a bit better with my night...

    LCHF and 'Dawn Phenomenon'?

Thank you! I will try this. Looking at the LCHF websites I did think maybe I wasn't having enough fat overall, so bit of a 'fat bomb' at bedtime would fit in with this. The worst things for my numbers are bread of any kind. I had a tiny bit of porridge the other week when I had an upset tummy...

    LCHF and 'Dawn Phenomenon'?

Hi I generally follow a very low carb diet (try to keep below 20g) and have seen my numbers stabilize quite nicely (last Hb1AC = 52). I still take gliclazide and empaliflozin. However, I am waking at 4 most days with palpitations and sweats and just put it down to a liver dump at that time and...

    Type 2 Sugarfree confectionery

Avidlite have a huge range of chocolate, sweets, low carb biscuits and all kind of yummy things! It is a website for 'diabetics and dieters' Of course some things have a laxative effect, but I have found I have become more tolerant over time. Read the labels carefully for net carb count and...

Did you know that LCHF diet for diabetics was available in 1917 ??

My grandad was diabetic (actually, most of my family are - on both sides!) and he lived to the ripe old age of 98 on LCHF. He must have been diagnosed about the turn of the century (the LAST one) and LCHF was the diet he followed all of his life. Deaf as a post, mind you ;)

    LCHF after gall bladder removal

    LCHF after gall bladder removal

Thank you - I am now more hopeful! My current symptoms are almost constant nausea and occasional griping pains down near the gall bladder. It is the nausea that's making my life a misery, so I'm looking forward to that going, HOPEFULLY!

    LCHF after gall bladder removal

Hi I am sure my question has been answered somewhere on here, but just need a bit of reassurance! I have been on LCHF for a good while and find my numbers are great - I feel fine except for the occasional pain from gall stones and other 'tummy troubles'. I am due to have my gall bladder out...

They shrunk the Lidl Rolls :(

I am so disappointed! I really loved these rolls and one sliced and toasted with butter and mushrooms did me for lunch, They didn't spike me too badly and really filled me up until tea time! The new SMALLER ones are not enough for me and I have to have something else with it! Also, I have...
