New product - Diabetes.co.uk Alert ID

I suppose in the event of a Hypo OR perhaps even an accident, strangers in the vicinity may be able to inform emergency services of the band, therefore helping said services gain information of a persons needs for treatment and hence be able to give faster treatment than otherwise? Possibly even...

Had my say in the parliamentary committee

"Unfortunately, the PCTs are allowed to pick and chose what healthcare they want to pay for and what they don't. I am lucky in that my GP is happy to prescribe the test strips and lancets that I need, but I'm willing to bet that once I have demonstrated that my BG is under control, the amount...

Had my say in the parliamentary committee

''Is that an argument that they use for anybody or just for you? In any case it has to be one of the most pathetic arguments going.'' I agree Ian I am hoping to win a machine and then I will BUY the strips if need be! I have a need to know so that I can find out if I need to adjust my diet...

I was only diagnosed in August this year and already feel the attitude of ''your like this because you let yourself get this way'' etc. Last week I saw my doctor in the morning for blood tests and we had a chat. She asked me to ask the diabetes nurse...

    SWINE FLU: Preparing for Winter

I will do he usual - nothing! My opinion is its all propaganda to get rid of back stock after all the government has a contract with a pharmaceutical company to be supplied with it each year so they have to justify that don't they. I prefer to keep my bodies 'natural' defences up rather than be...

    Chat room

I would love to join the chat room on a regular basis with others to air things etc I think a set time might be a good idea and maybe the ''night'' ones are in other countries?? I too could go with IRC idea but I suspect using the site chat room would be easier for a lot to find who maybe aren't...

If someone else suggests it's all my fault...

What gets me is I had all this with smoking! Yes I started that habit mainly because of peer pressure at a very young age but I kicked it in into touch (eventually) only to end up with getting the very same 'leper' treatment for diabetes. Since so many of us people obviously agree on this one...
