    Is TM going low?

I have heard her say she's on MDI and also that she's on a pump....so I suppose she might have changed?

    Doctors Thursday a.m, diabetic pm

Hi Sue, First of all welcome, and I totally understand your confusion. It's a huge amount to take on suddenly. What insulin are you taking? I imagine they haven't talked you through correction factors yet, so apart from ringing 111 (which I would do if levels don't fall) I'd keep testing...

    Hi to everyone

Hi and welcome! I can't speak from experience but I have seen a lot of people saying that metmorfin has given them lots of side effects (like diarrhoea), although for others (like my brother) it has been fine. From what I can see your diet is relatively low carb and low fat, which I know a lot...

    Serious hypo!

My T1 has complained of various problems with her sight around a hypo - it sounds scary and one of those things someone who has never experienced a hypo (like me) can't understand. Just sending hugs.

    High blood sugars

From what I understand being ill (I presume you must be as you are taking antibiotics) can cause raised BG levels. Make sure you are testing often (ketones too) and drink plenty of water :)

    Treating a low

We love apple juice too, and often if she was 'on the way down' and we had PE or a very active lesson, I'd use sips of apple juice to keep 'topping up' (weighing at the end to figure out total carbs). Those sips saved us from lows on multiple occasions, and seemed to work quite quickly (within...

    high and low

Being ill can wreck havoc with your BG levels - the T1 I care for normally ends up with raised levels whenever she's even just 'coming down with something'. Drink plenty of water and keep testing :)

Be careful on holiday type 2

Unfortunately I think that one happens a lot - my step-brother who is T2 can luckily taste the difference between diet and fully-loaded.

    Idiotic person judging me!!!

Even as a carer I have seen a lot of this. The way I see it is that it's my job to manage the diabetes so that my wee T1 can do as much as possible at school, but occasionally there is supply in or colleagues who I don't often interact with who definitely put their foot in it. I've been asked...

    Sickness with diabetes

Hope you are feeling better! Here are the T2 sick day rules. Absolutely keep yourself as hydrated as possible and rest/sleep. http://www.cmft.nhs.uk/media/381267/sick%20day%20rules%20for%20people%20with%20type%20ii%20diabetes.pdf

    exercise

Definitely do something you enjoy - it won't be sustainable long-term otherwise! I love walking with my earphones in, listening to my favourite music. Now that summer is (apparently) here I'm going to try to get out and walk more often :)

    Agreed

    Hypo?

I know my T1 feels hypo if her BG has dropped rapidly even if she stays above 4 - maybe that happened to you?

    Hypos

The T1 I care for has had a low of 2.6 with me. A combination of unexpected excitement and very hot weather I think! She did enjoy the ribena though! As a carer I hate hypos because it always feels like there is something you should have done. Realistically I know that some hypos are bound to...
