Insulin Pump - thinking of changing; advice

Hi, does anyone know if a tubeless 300 unit reservoir insulin pump exists, that is compatible with a CGM (Dexcom or Libre) and also can be used on an iPhone? That's what my son is looking for, but does it exist? I have researched, but it seems he may need to compromise on at least one aspect of...

    Help

Sounds very much like Covid. I feel for you and hope you're well now. I, my husband and Type 1 son have also had it - you just know really. Very similar symptoms to you. My son's blood sugars were at levels we'ver never seen, much as you've described happened to you. He was dx about 3 years ago...

    Coronavirus Confusion

Hi, All I can tell you, from my personal experience, because I, my husband and my Type 1 son have had it, is that we're all at risk. We're getting over it and it was the "Mild" version, in that none of us was hospitalised. But we were all very ill, and although we shared some of the same...

    Exogenous Insulin question.

My son was dx T1 a year ago and his weight does what it always did - he puts weight on if he eats too much (like on holiday) and loses the weight when he eats normally - it seems to just balance out. What changes is the insulin need. So I think the insulin just balances what we put into our mouths.

    Freestyle Libre

Thanks to everyone. I did buy the box of 10 because I believed I'd use them all - so why not? Less postage. We're way past the first starter pack (!) I bought another starter pack recently, after the 10 box issue, so I could even try a new reader, but it's the sensors that were out. The two...

    Freestyle Libre

Have been using this for months, with really close results between blood and isf readings. It has been amazing BUT......Then bought a box of 10 and used 3 in a row, ALL of which were excessively inaccurate at 100% + wrong/ higher. My son thought he was at 5.5, felt hypo and was at 2!!! So this...

    Pancreas producing insulin again?

As I understand it, the breaking down of body fat to fuel the body causes ketones and high blood sugar, which becomes a vicious cycle, which also causes dehydration and exhaustion and, eventually: DKA. The body can use ketones (and the brain likes them), but to quote our eminent endo consultant...

Can I become a commercial Airline pilot with Type 1 Diabetes

Hiya, that's what my son came around to thinking, pretty much. Like I said, I work in HR. I know better than most what should be done and also what the reality is when choosing between two equal candidates when one is, for example, likely to be even a slightly greater risk for e.g. sickness...

Diagnosed with Type 1 AND NOW ALSO Coeliac Disease!

Thanks for this, really appreciated. I've tested myself twice using online kits. I might go and get it done at the docs actually. And husband too. Lots of autoimmune issues in both our families, but no diabetes, except our son. We'd probably feel better without gluten.

Diagnosed with Type 1 AND NOW ALSO Coeliac Disease!

Thank you. My son has always been a fussy eater and didn't eat chocolate until he was 8 years old. His choice mainly. He actually didn't like it or sweet things. A year before his T1D diagnosis he craved sweet things all the time and couldn't get enough sugar. We didn't know what was going on...

Diagnosed with Type 1 AND NOW ALSO Coeliac Disease!

Thanks so much for your kind response. We got turned down for PIP. Apparently it's very difficult for people with T1 to get it. As he turned 16, he's not automatically entitled. Had he been under 16, he would have automatically got it to age 18 - what's that about? Our nursing team even wrote...

Diagnosed with Type 1 AND NOW ALSO Coeliac Disease!

So my son had his T1D diagnosis 9 months ago. Routine testing for other autoimmune conditions revealed elevated Coeliac antibodies. A second blood test 6 months later showed lower, but nonetheless elevated levels. A recent gut biopsy looked normal to the naked eye. No symptoms were present, so...

    How long did it take?

I know what you mean. I grieve for my son's health every day. He was diagnosed 9 months ago. Every day, I wish it was me :-(
