    BGM - what model?

I'm been using a GlucoNavii for a few years now and last time I checked there didn't appear to be anything substantially better available. 100 test strips & 100 lancets are £24.99 from Amazon. The GlucoNavii itself is about £15 with 10 test strips or £25 with 50.

Feels like my life is over at 24

An hb1ac of 55 isn't drastically bad (mine was 106 when I was diagnosed!) although I think would still be regarded as being a diabetes diagnosis rather than pre-diabetes. It is in the range that I'd expect it to be reasonably manageable via diet and other lifestyle changes though, especially as...

    Simple Breadmaker Low-Carb Bread Recipe

Thanks. I did Google it but what I was looking for was recipes that people had already used and which they found worked well, to try and cut through all the noise.

    Simple Breadmaker Low-Carb Bread Recipe

Does anyone have a relatively simple but effective low-carb bread recipe that's suitable for use with a Breadmaker? Thanks Steve

    Weekly weigh in - Fridays

82.55kg this morning, which is 12st 14lbs and a BMI of 26.9. That's up 1kg from last week and possibly confirms that the scales I use in my other house read a little lower than the scales I use here. It's still down a bit from the last time I used these scales at least.

Is remission from T2 diabetes possible

Remission is possible, but once you get there be beware of the risk of complacency. That's what caught me out. I was diagnosed in Match 2023 with a hb1ac of 106. 3 months later I had that down to 53 (going low carb and focusing on losing weight as well), another 3 months and it was 43 and then...

What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

6.0 at 08:20 this morning, which is ok for me at the moment. Blood pressure was quite high (and a lot higher than it's been recently) at 142/69 (it was 117/77 when I checked it yesterday afternoon) - not sure why, although I was already dealing with some work escalations etc. by the time I'd...

Fasting Blood Sugar this morning + yesterday's food AND physical activity

6.5 at 08:15 this morning, which isn't bad considering I gave low-carb a miss last night as we were out for an Indian meal. Loads of carbs including rice and naan bread - although I hadn't eaten much else that day. I didn't do a lot of exercise either as the dog mostly got his exercise from a...

Fasting Blood Sugar this morning + yesterday's food AND physical activity

6.7 this morning which isn't too bad considering I had fish and chips last night (although my wife and I now get one fish support and a single fish between us and split the chips). Usual 5km walk with the dog at lunchtime

Freebie Trial DexCom 1+ Results and Thoughts

The freebie Dexcom One+ I had on trial for 10 days expired a week or so back and I've just got around to checking the overall results in the Dexcom Clarity site. By default it sets a target range of 3.9 to 10 and over the course of having it my readings were: - 0% Very High - 3% High - 97% In...

    Diet drinks

I think the NHS assume that everyone only drinks the full-sugar versions of fizzy drinks, as the one and only bit of advice I got from them when I was first diagnosed was to stop taking sugar in my coffee and to stop drinking fizzy drinks. The doc actually seemed bemused when I told him I only...
