    T2 HbA1c results

It's only a rough estimate but I've found that the 3 month average of my morning finger prick results has closely approximated my last 2 hb1ac's. For example my last hb1ac was 43 which I think is equivalent to 6.1% and over the 3-month period prior to that the average of my morning tests was 6.3.

I had a follow-up call with the doc this morning who seemed quite impressed with how things are going and he's agreed with me going down to 1 x 500mg Metformin now, with a view to coming off it if my next hb1ac is also under 48. If I'm then still under 48 at my annual review in March next year...

    T2 HbA1c results

I was diagnosed with an hb1ac of 106 in March this year, which had dropped to 53 when re-tested in June and 43 when tested again earlier this month.

Cholesterol up on low carb high fat

My hb1ac was 106 when I was diagnosed in March and at that time my total cholesterol was 7.5. I went low carb a couple of weeks after my diagnosis but also tried to avoid eating too much fat, and my hb1ac is now down to 43 and my cholesterol down to 4.6 - so still a bit of work to do on both...

I didn't do anything specific to target cholesterol, so I think it was a side effect of the improvements in diet and the weight loss I did to target the diabetes. I was taking statins for maybe a month or two (although stopped some time back) so that might also have had a positive effect.

Low Carb but don’t need weight loss

I each chips from time to time as well (I had a fish supper last night in fact) - but I don't see that as an issue as an occasional treat.

Should I ask GP to review my medication?

Great work on getting your hb1ac down to those levels. After two such low tests I'd be discussing stopping (or at least reducing) the metformin with your doctor, as I'd have thought you should be regarded as being in remission now after two low tests.

Low Carb but don’t need weight loss

I was hb1ac of 106 and BMI of 28.4 when diagnosed in March this year. I soon switched to low carb and that (along with intentionally working on getting my weight down) has seen my hb1ac come down to 43 in 6 months and my BMI is now at or just under 22. As I don't really want to lose any more...

    Another Newbie

I had my 3rd hb1ac blood test yesterday and am quite pleased with the result which was 43. That's down from 53 in June and 106 when diagnosed in March. I think that's now getting close to the "normal" range and I think is maybe now into what would be regarded as the remission range. I think I'll...

A little lost soul, trying to process it all.

Mine dropped quickly once I'd moved to a low-carb diet - my follow-up hb1ac after 10 weeks was down to 53. I've another hb1ac blood test next week so am hoping it's dropped further.

There seems to be some difference in prescribing for this - I was diagnosed at 106 and initially went onto 1 metformin per day for 2 weeks, then after that moved to 2 per day - which is what I'm still on.

    Weekly weigh in - Fridays

10st 9lbs this morning which is a BMI of exactly 22. That's down from 13st 10lbs and a BMI of 28.4 when I was diagnosed in March this year.

    Weekly weigh in - Fridays

68.15kg which is 10st 10lbs and a BMI of 22.2. That's another 1 kg down since the same time last week. I think I need to start considering what I should do to stabilise my weight now as I'm not really looking to drop any lower.

    Weekly weigh in - Fridays

69.15kg (10st 12lb) which is down about 2lb over the course of last week and down about 18kg (about 3 stone) since I was diagnosed in March this year. BMI is now 22.4 - down from 28.4 when I was diagnosed.
