    Disappointed with results

5 months ago I was prediabetic with HbA1c 42 and changed my diet dramatically, to very low carb. I’ve lost nearly 2 stone. I cut out all of the food I love, like dal & rice as my body just can’t cope with them (I test before and 2 hours after food, only for new things now). What I’ve done is at...

My first takeaway in 4 months…

Thanks. Yeah I cook a lot of Indian food at home - but I live alone and sometimes I just reallllly want someone else to cook for me :) I enjoyed it but not enough that I’d do it again with that same meal.

My first takeaway in 4 months…

Ah yes, a flour coating would make sense. I’m a vegetarian and so it does limit things, was just so pleased I made good choices and was then rewarded with a ‘what now!?’ :)

My first takeaway in 4 months…

Last night I just really needed something different. From an Indian restaurant I ordered paneer tikka (no sauce), broccoli (very minimal sauce) and cauliflower (it had been deep fried in something and had lots of chilli / salt). No rice no bread no lentils. Before eating my level was 6. 2hours...

Low carb food from chains (vege)

Due to my work there are times when I have to grab food on the go from chains in London (where I don’t live). I generally find myself in Pret saying out loud “I can’t eat anything!” and buying a dull egg and spinach pot. Does anyone know of any great grab and go things in any of the stores like...

    Dizzieness

I’m having a very similar experience. Pre diabetic, lost 11lbs in 8 weeks due to very low carb diet, also dizzy & have to be careful I don’t pass out. I’m not at all hungry, it’s really strange. I’m basically writing it all down and if it carries on I’m going to see the doctor (I’m also peri...

    Thank you

I just had a Hba1c at the gym as part of a health MOT on joining, and I got a reading of 36. Two months ago at the doc I was 42 and told pre diabetic. I wasn’t given any guidance by my GP & had I not found this forum I know I’d have desperately tried to lose weight by eating lots of veg /...

Nurse advises vegan diet not healthy

I was mostly vegan (apart from eggs), but have gone back to being vegetarian since diagnosis (pre diabetic). I tested the effects of oat milk, lentils etc - things that featured in my diet a lot before but they just caused a spike that was too high after a couple of hours. I decided to put my...

    Vegetarian Diet

I also chop onions, mushrooms, courgettes in bulk. Then each morning I add that to an egg or two to make an omlette. Sometimes I add cheese & maybe sprinkle seeds. Filling, quick, and doesn’t cause me a spike.

    Vegetarian Diet

I’m a vegetarian and on low carb and I’m finding it ok. I’ve got cheddar, feta, paneer and Parmesan in the fridge at the moment and they can be really different from eachother and offer quite a variety of meal options. I’m also eating a fair amount of tofu and again have got in quite a wide...
