    Hypo unawareness

Do you normally experience hypo symptoms? At roughly what BG level (as per finger prick)? Depending where you wear it, a CGM can give false “compression lows”. Also the accuracy of any CGM gets a bit worse if BG is very high or very low.

    Trial

I was approached earlier this year to join a trial for a new CGM device that would have required me to wear this novel device (not Libre), plus a Libre as a control and carry a monitor for each CGM, in addition to my existing personal Dexcom G7 and my Omnipod DASH pump. Unfortunately, I felt I...

    Frozen shoulder 3x

I'm another looking for suggestions. I have limited mobility in my left shoulder due to a smashed head of humerus 6 years ago - took a year of physio to get to its current pain free state. Until six months ago I had full range of motion in my right arm/shoulder, but now quite limited range of...

Call me The Hamster (Treadmill question)

@JoKalsbeek, This is just a rather left field suggestion: I’m hoping to get back to longer walking and restarting running once I’m a bit more recovered from recent surgery. I personally hate treadmills and stationary bikes, but find using my rowing machine really motivating for my overall...

Type 1: What are your HbA1c test results?

My latest HbA1c is 44 (6.2%) and about 75% TIR with Low 2% and Very Low <1%. My best was in 2023 @ 43, but my endo was unhappy about Lows > 5% (hypos are the reason I was given a pump). Interestingly my Dexcom 7 (and previously Dexcom 6) almost always overestimates my level by 3-4 points...

    Help

After being hospitalised for DKA, my BGs were relatively quickly normalised, but my breakfast choices the next morning were toast and cereal. A nurse helpfully suggested that if I needed gluten free, then scrambled egg could be made available. What appeared was tasteless and didn't much resemble...

    Type 1

Hi @becca2018, I concur with the above statements and sadly it may take some time for you to be eligible/allocated a pump. Pragmatically this is not just due to funding constraints (which are significant!), but also due to a lack of enough pump specialist nurses for new user training and...

Getting Dexcom and omnipod supplies every 6 months rather than every 3 months…

Maybe contact customer support directly at both Dexcom and Insulet and see what they recommend that you ask your diabetes team to recommend?

Close loop insulin pump funding NHS

Hi @Magda8112, As @becca59 notes, Hybrid Closed Loop (HCL) pump roll-out was approved for NHS England on an extended 5 year rollout in early 2024. This long rollout is due to the significant funding required, the need for more specialist trained staff to support expanded pump use, and also the...

    Moving to Bermuda - tips

Hi @Red_Fox22, That sounds an exciting opportunity! Working abroad, being a T1D, has never caused me an issue for work visas. It is good that your employer's programme should cover your normal treatment consumables. Regarding cover exclusions, it is really important to know how...

TOES, NOT NUMB BUT FEEL SCRUNCHED UP

While you are abroad how do you manage your healthcare access, especially for ongoing diabetes management, insulin prescriptions, etc? Ideally you could engage with a local in-country HCP, that can advise what tests may help show if vit B12 is the issue. vit D3 may also be a useful test to have.

    Type 1 Novorapid shortage

So far no problem getting repeat prescription of 2 NovoRapid 10 ml vials - picked up last order last week.

    Insulin pump and ankle swelling?

Actually, maybe its not so weird. If by using a pump with Novorapid you have been able to significantly improve your blood glucose control, but now experiencing side effects of more water retention, ankle swelling, etc - this may indicate that you could have been chronically dehydrated to some...

    Locum Trouble

I do have, so far, relatively mild peripheral neuropathy currently with slowed nerve conduction, OK circulation and skin sensation. I remember being concerned when the small amount of hair growing on my toes disappeared never to return...
