Getting Dexcom and omnipod supplies every 6 months rather than every 3 months…

I’m a crown servant and shortly going overseas for a period of service. Long story short, it’s going to be a pain to get my Dexcom and Omnipods sent overseas so they’ll need to be sent to my parents’ house in the UK, and I’ll pick them up when I visit. As I’m moving quite far away and won’t be home as frequently, it will be much easier for me to have six-monthly shipments of Dexcoms and pods, rather than 3. Does anyone have any experience of asking your hospital to change how often you receive the items? Basically not sure whether I should gear up for a bureaucratic nightmare or if this is straightforward!

Maybe contact customer support directly at both Dexcom and Insulet and see what they recommend that you ask your diabetes team to recommend?

Does the branch of Crown Service you’re part of have facilities for medical supplies? If it does, maybe you could make arrangements through them.
Failing that, a GP is a good place to start asking about ways and methods, and a letter to the Consultant at the hospital pump clinic, explaining the situation and asking for solutions.
The people on the pump thread here might also be helpful.

Call Dexcom they can change the delivery schedule for you.

Hi, was the issue sending overseas linked with customs clearance? Also did you manage to arrange for six monthly batches? I may be moving to Dubai with a T1D child and would like him to stay on the same system but it looks like it may not be available, so am considering whether it can be sent/brought from the UK. Interested to learn how it worked for you?
