I am really torn over this. My cholesterol isn’t awful. It was 6.4 before I started the statins. I’m on a huge 80mg dose of Atorvastatin and never had a high HbA1C until now.

Hi everyone, I’m recently diagnosed with pre-Diabetes. My HBA1C has always been great but I started taking statins in May and now it’s 47. Is there a link between the two? I’ve reduced sugar and carbs. Will I be able to reduce it whilst still on statins?

The first test wasn't fasting and it was 6.4. second test was fasting and was 4.2. It wasn't HbA1c

My blood sugar was tested 18 months ago. It was 4.2 fasting and 6.4 two hours after breakfast. How often should I have it tested at the GP? Can it change significantly in that time?

I had only eaten two slices of white bread and butter. Is 6.5 still ok? Why would I be sent for a fasting blood test if this one was normal It was about two hours after eating the toast. Would that make it a bit more worrying?

It was definitely for glucose. I will wait and see what results come back as. The nurse wasn't very helpful suggesting a "whole series of other tests".

Only one phial was filled. Cholesterol and kidney function were tested a few weeks ago and were fine.
