    HbA1c 107

I have found this book very good at explaining the science around diabetes. I couldnt do 800 calories a day but stuck to around 1300 calories. Lots of walking (12000 steps a day). Lost 8kg in 8 weeks. Reducated my taste buds. Blood glucose is now into the realms of remission levels. Yesterday...

Bs gone up from breakfast in between not eaten nothing

I found porridge to be a slow release problem. I switched to NOat Porridge (greatApeCo). It is based on seeds and contains no oats. This helped to reduce the glucose drag for me. Plus exercise and weight loss (8kg in 8 weeks)....my BG has improved massively. Yesterday I was 5.0 first thing in...

    Cephalexin Complications / interactions. T2

Temperature normal. Feeling hot and the fuzzy head. I think the abcess was pretty marginal. Started to feel now a bit "chesty", so it maybe a virus underlying. Going to fast for a bit longer and keep up the fluids.[emoji106]

    Cephalexin Complications / interactions. T2

I was given this by my dentist yesterday. I noted on the paperwork in the box possible issues with it interacting with Metformin and leading to hypos. I checked BF after 3 tablets as was feeling odd. BG was 13mmol even 6 hours after eating. So the opposite of what information stated. On doing a...

    Cramps

Could one of many causes. Common ones are an imbalance of salts or, dehydation. The body can take a while to adjust to a new diet, particularly when it has been used to the same thing for many years. I get the occasional cramp (usually at night). Taking "crampex" tablets for a couple of days...

    Confused

Bernard Long shot.....but by irritable legs, do you mean "restless" legs? If so this is sometimes associated with low iron levels. Easy one for the doctor to check. Good Luck Tony

Type 2 Major league sleep issues

In mice it has been shown to affect sleep patterns: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/27189909 Humans (see item 3): http://www.progressivehealth.com/foods-that-disrupt-your-sleep.htm Try and google: saccharin sleep disturbance I had my throat re-profiled...but in all honest losing weight...

    Type 2 Type 2

Hi. Just to be clear I was only commenting on the accuracy of the meters. Jayantilal is correct that 4 is on the low side, and I would expect you would need a little sugar lift to get it back up in the 5 - 7 range. My experience is one jelly baby is enough!!

    Type 2 Type 2

You have a normal range of readings. These portable devices are never going to be as accurate as a £10000 hospital lab machine. There are variations from strip to strip, and sample to sample. Build that in to your personal meter and you have a reading of x +/- y. Your readings imply approx 10 %...

    Doctors

Welcome to the cash-strapped NHS. They negotiate deals with a limited number of suppliers. The meters are of course supplied at very low cost...the companies make their profits on the supply of test strips. Bottom line is as long as they are accurate / reliable, you may have to put up with it...

    Newbiee needs advice

Paul We all start off with the initial....OMG..boring food and meds. I am actually eating much better food that before diagnosis. Ok doughnuts are a very rare and small treat, but the High Fat Low Carb diet can be as interesting as you want to make it. Don't rule out meds....they help to get...

    Weight loss stalled

Hugs a plenty. Roads can be bumpy, but try not to get too stuck in worrying short term. You will get through this and reach the smoother road again. Be patient...we all care! Tony

    Type 1 UTI

empink If it is a bacterial infection causing the UTI, then could take 3-4 days before the antibiotic kicks in (if the right one for the organism has been prescribed). If it is viral, it will be down to your own defences fighting it off. If you don't see signs of improvement in the next 24...
