Competing after 12yrs but unsure how to manage my pump

Sorry for the extremely late reply and thank you @Snapsy for thinking of me. But alas i don't use a pump and can't give any pointers on that mater. I don't deadlift anymore neither (hernia's) so can't even give any advice on that one and my competition days are over. However i can say that...

    Vegetables?

There once was a show in Belgium named (freely translates) "Also tested on humans". In which they had an episode about people who really did not like a certain food (the subjects) and some specialists (can't remember their area of expertise). The objective was to try and get the subjects to...

    Freestyle libre and airport security

I don't have experience with air travel since wearing the sensor but when i get a pat down i do mention i have a sensor on my upper arm. Just in case they grab, slide and pull it off. With security at events lately it's fairly common but so far i didn't have any problems. I point at the location...

Question re fat affect on blood sugars

Keep in mind that a glycemic index has a set value whereas glycemic load does not. To be honest glycemic index isn't all that useful in practice, glycemic load however is more realistic since it takes into account the serving size.

    Creatine

I've been taking creatine in 12 week cycles on and off for years now and never had problems. Keeping in mind that other then diabetes i'm healthy. Furthermore according to examine.com creatine has very little influence on blood pressure with 4 studies that confirm these findings. Caution is off...

    Healthy Vegan Food

Pea soup has about 10 grams of carbs of which 3.2 grams sugars per 100 grams. Some even have 25 grams of carbs per serving which is quite hefty. I'm wondering why the "food experts" didn't consider the effect food would have on your blood glucose. Might it be because their expertise was...

    Exercise

Pardon my laziness but i'm going to quote myself from another topic But as mentioned the best way to make sure is to test yourself after the activity and a couple of hours later too.

    Regular moderate exercise log

I've decided i wanted to learn a programming language so i've been "busy" (read: i've been shouting at my computer and frantically crying: "why won't you work"). Might enroll in higher education in september. So working out has been slow but i did remember an old routine i used to do when time...

Is a carb just a carb?

Glycemic load not index is actually more useful when measuring the effect that it'll have on your blood glucose. As for types of carbs:

Exercise effect on BG levels advice please

A rule of thumb to remember is: Short burst of high intensity activity -> like lifting a heavy weight for 1-3 repetitions will have little to no effect on your blood glucose. Longer burst of moderate to high intensity -> lifting weights for +8 repetitions and several sets (think of a...

    Toujeo Insulin

I've been on Toujeo for a while now and i had lot's of problems with night time highs too, still often do. I've started raising the dose but then i had lows during the day. However even with the highs my hba1c actually dropped and after a while making adjustments to my diet too i must say i'm...

has any type 1 ever managed to lose weight while on Insulin

I'm either losing or gaining weight depending on where i want to be weight wise. The first few weeks going from gaining weight to losing weight yield very little results since it takes a while for my insulin regime to catch up. The biggest pointer i can give is: have a routine. I eat about the...

    Some question still unsure about!

The advantage of whey protein is that it has an extremely high biological value (+100) whereas you will "only" find near to 100 in foods like milk and then you only go lower. Milk has the highest biological value and then it decreases to poultry (chicken, turkey) meat, fish, veggies, ... The...
