How Can I be "cured" according to GP?

I don't think I really agree with these statements. You are still diabetic i.e. if you had the gold standard GTT you'd most likely still show a T2DM response. You are well controlled and- as yet- can manage this control with diet and exercise alone: you were probably 'caught' very early on so...

At what HbA1c level did your doctor want you to go on meds?

Re: At what HbA1c level did your doctor want you to go on me Immediately!! I presented after 3 weeks of the classic drink-'n'-pee symptoms and with my own self-diagnosis based on my observations and internet research. HBA1c blood drawn that day- with results 48 hours later giving the great...

Potential new therapy for T2DM (prevention and reversal)

I could not find via the forum search function any reference to this study and potential new treatment for both prevention (at PD) and reversal of T2. So apologies if this has been covered before. But it looks quite promising- probably a long time though till human medication developed...

Two of the last three times I have bought strips this has happened. I need the next batch in two weeks- I'll see what happens.

Diabetes type 2 and VAT relief

Hi Every time I go to Boots in the centre of Sheffield for my strips I use the form downloaded from the site. Every time I do I get a third degree from the 'health care assistants' (as Boots re-badged their pharmacy shop workers some time ago). Quite often I get the 'shouting from one till to...

BG numbers- what are the ranges that you aim for?

That was the type of thing I was hoping to see myself when I started the thread i.e. the full range of targets that the full diversity of us T2s are aiming for but that are 'healthy' as ceilings. Perhaps the responses to this thread have been skewed somewhat to those eating the "LCHF" 50-80g...

BG numbers- what are the ranges that you aim for?

Hi everyone I have been doing some reading again recently because my testing results were going a bit wonky. In the end- as things settled down again- I decided it was because the teaching year started again and my body needed to get used to that- after the summer hiatus- and stop being...

New type 2 and a bit confused

For the medium carb aproach which I currently take these are classic daily numbers and I could have pulled them from my own food diary :D I aim for a weekly average of less than 150g carb per day but this can fluctuate by up to 50g either side on different days.

New type 2 and a bit confused

There is a lot of conflicting research out there on the 'inevitability' of progression. I've pressed my GP on this and he has tried to stay non committal but won't rule out "insulin at some point down the line". Especially as I am 46. But it is an established fact that with tight BG control we...

New type 2 and a bit confused

Hi That is standard DN/ NHS advice and for the vast majority of us T2s is really- and there is no better way to phrase this- utter garbage. To begin with you should be aiming for a ballpark number of 150-180g carbs per day (medium carb approach). You should- at the start- be testing regularly...

Good walking shoes for Type 2's - anyone have any ideas

Thanks to all who have given suggestions to me- very helpful. I love this site :D

    G.P.s

I never ask for a print off anymore- I find the receptionists in my medial practice get incredibly snotty about it plus they never seemd to print out all my tests! Instead my GP is OK for me to take a foto of the pc screen for each result with my iPhone. I think its vitally important to...

Good walking shoes for Type 2's - anyone have any ideas

In a few months time I am going away for 3 weeks and I'll be doing a lot of walking. This will be primarily urban though some rural as well. I saw a podiatrist a few weeks ago and told her about my 3 weeks of numb toes after walking 3-4 hours a day whilst in Beijing for 10 days. She said that...

    9.2 after exercise :(

I have given up testing after I exercise if that exercise is within the postprandial 2 hour window. Because whatever I do- be it anaerobic or aerobic- it seems to put me at or above 7.8mmol 2 hours after my meal (especially anaerobic exercise- which will raise your BG rather than reduce it)...
