    Exocrine Pancreatic Insufficiency

I have increased slowly since diagnosis, now taking 14 25k with majority of meals, I will alter slightly if I’m eating something with less/more fat and protein. I’m eating a fairly healthy diet as I’m also trying to lose weight. It doesn’t matter what I eat nothing helps. I’ve tried taking all...

    Exocrine Pancreatic Insufficiency

@The_Petal yes I totally understand. I was on creon 25k, I would take 10 with meals and 5/6 with snacks. But the high dose made me sick, so was changed to Nutrizym 22, but it’s out of stock so have to use creon again. I just have no idea what type of meals to eat. I’m stuck. Weight isn’t an...

    Weight loss

Low fat low protein is extremely hard. I’m still new in the EPI diagnosis so I’m still struggling a lot. I just don’t want to have to take 10-20 pills with my meals!! I don’t drink (it affects my stomach horribly), I still eat chocolate because I need it to keep on track, although trying to...

    Not losing weight. Why? Dehydration?

It seems as thought you’re not eating a lot. It could be that your body is going into ‘starvation mode’ and basically holding on to all the fat that you have because of the little amount you’re eating. You need to have much more!! Instead of cutting down on your food, I’d maybe try to eat a...

    Type 1 Is this normal?

I would make an appointment with your Dr/GP ASAP and ask them to do a stool sample to test the elastase. It basically tests the function of the pancreas. If it’s with every meal then it does sound like it could be EPI (but I’m not a dr so don’t take my word for it). I tested negative for...

    Weight loss

So I recently decided that I was going to get my butt into gear and try to lose weight. Long story short, I’ve been signed off work until end of March for other health problems so thought I’d make the most of being off. So I’ve been going to the gym this last week, Thurs 7th 2 classes, Fri 8th...

    Type 1 Is this normal?

Hi @Alex_B I too have many issues with my stomach. I was told I had IBS 12 years ago. May be too much info, but I haven’t had a normal bowel movement in about 6 years. Over the years my stomach issues got worse and worse. Drs told me to try different diets, gluten free, lactose free, FODMAP...

    Trying for number 2

Not too far so definitely worth a try! My diabetes nurse didn’t expect me to get the funding because there is so much criteria to hit. I was very lucky. Good luck!

    No sex with type 1...?

Speaking from a type 1 female, I feel that diabetes can have an effect on libido. If levels are unstable then sex isn’t on my mind and can go months without. Is he controlled?

    Trying for number 2

Hi. I’m in Scarborough, North Yorkshire. I know it’s a postcode lottery when it comes to funding.

    Colostrum harvesting

Just don’t force it. You need to remember that prior to baby being born your body wouldn’t normally lactate so you might not get much. As long as you put baby to breast as soon as they’re born and keep doing so then you really shouldn’t have any issues

    Trying for number 2

Hi all So me and hubby are actively trying for number two Our first child was born August 2015, hba1c 7.0-7.4% all the way through and although not ideal our daughter was born perfectly healthy. I’ve been on folic acid since April, also have libre funded due to preconception. Hba1c is now...

    Stresssssing out!

Hello I had my baby almost 3.5 years ago. I also would hit the odd high, I was told by my team that as long as you catch them and deal with them then they will cause no harm. It is only when you run your sugar levels at a high rate for a prolonged time (meaning days rather than hours) then it...

    Colostrum harvesting

Unfortunately I never managed to as I gave birth at 36+2 by emcs. I was told to start harvesting at 37 weeks as it can bring on labour. I was however, very lucky to have my milk come in straight after birth (due to being on the ward for 5 days and apparently hearing newborn babies cries). I also...

    New omnipod

I’ve been using the omnipod since 2013 and I love it. When my renewal came up last year I stayed on it. In the beginning it’s hard to know what to adjust. With background you need to adjust by the slightest increment (0.05u per hour). It is all trial and error but in the end you will get...
