That is great - it's much easier to change lifestyle when your other half is making the changes with you - my husband says "What's good for you is good for me" and he treks along my walks with me.

    Rice Cooker can reduce carbs?

I just wouldn’t go near white rice personally. I Use brown basmati to be quick. I think the sales pitch is misleading. whatever the weight of the cooked rice = that amount of carbs.

Well done Antje77! I remember getting back to 48. I kept going - the next one was 42 and the one after that 36! God did I enjoy the follow up to that one! Nothing quite like proving the sceptical, depressing, judgmental diabetic nurse wrong!

    Blood Test Day!

OK it’s blood test day. What emotions do you go through? I get quite excited about it - yes I think I am wierd. All that walking, exercising, eating avocado, olives, tumeric, ground cumin, ground coriander, cinnamon, tomato’s, onions and mushrooms, ignoring those scrumptious looking cakes...

Hi @ScottieDP11 , I'm sorry to hear you have joined our club. The diagnosis is horrible, and learning about this disease is literally horrifying BUT - it doesn't have to be lifelong. Get rid of it. Sign up to a course - I recommend https://www.xperthealth.org.uk/and learn how to reverse the...

    A1c result in!

Taighnamona - you need to follow the advice of your GP. Don't stop taking your statin without their say so - especially if your cholesterol is higher. I'm on low carb - but don't touch cheese or fats because of high tryglycerides. 10mg statin is the lowest dose - with increased cholesterol you...

    How to cope

My brother is type 2 - never got a hold of it and was moved to insulin about 2 years ago. He says he wished they'd given him insulin to begin with and he is much more happy and his diabetes is totally controlled. It's natural to be alarmed about injections - we grow up being told not to stick...

    I'm lost.

I think you're right - there's some kind of block in my mind that is stopping me from being me. It's time to face it.

HBAC1 lulled me into a false sense of security! Help.

Hi, You need to ask for 3 month Hba1c tests for at least a year. You - and your doctor needs to see a profile. You also need to know which direction you are going in. You can ask for this in your care package. Everything is about cost these days which is my opinion as to why they seem so...

    I'm lost.

Hi Everyone. My thread is probably a bit piteous and self indulgent but not one for usually moping I thought I would allow myself this one time. I got diagnosed with type 2, 5 years ago. It was pretty bad with Hba1c of 97. I blasted through a year of a total change of lifestyle and reduced...

smoking cessation (I feel like I'm losing it)

So you made the decision to quit! Sometimes we don't pass first time - but trying again isn't a crime. I gave up smoking in October 22 and moved to vaping. The other day I smoked a cigarette - mainly out of curiosity and I couldn't smoke it, it was disgusting. After 30 years of smoking I never...
