    Type 2 Good DN review

I think numbers only apply if using insulin as most people don't test.

    Type 2 Annual DN visit

Do tell the truth. It helps everyone. The NHS now had a low carb app, can suggest it as a possible diet and has modules for GPs on achieving remission. If Dr Unwin and many other GPs can use it with their patients so can you!

You’ve cut out too much sugar!

As far as HbA1c is concerned the most recent 4 weeks contributes about 50% of the result. It isn't an average of 12 weeks but is 'weighted' to the most recent weeks. So 5 weeks of change can have a significant impact.

How many have achieved long term reversal with LCHF?

Three years for me, no medication and HbA1c 36 at last test. I hope this will be my forever life.

    NICE guidelines & HbA1c testing

That appears to be the most up to date guidance so it should apply.

Type 1 T1 Diabetics CAN eat sugar

It's what I read about the impact of sugar on gut bacteria that makes me not want to eat it whether diabetic or not. And gut bacteria look like they impact on every aspect of our health, both physical and mental. Read Tim Spector, his advice is feed your gut bacteria with as many different...

    Confused by hba1c

Well done! I imagine it is a routine description of that number but your change is hugely significant.

    T2 - a tale of diagnosis 'remission'....and hope!

It's an interesting point you make. If I walked into a new GP practice and had my HbA1c checked it would be about 36 so non diabetic. I know if I start eating carbs it would change but as you say, it is undetectable at the moment. I consider myself in remission.

    Lost,scared,angry type 2.

You do sound as though you are doing pretty well all things considered so don't be too hard on yourself. It is hard to go against so called professionals who should know better. This group is amazing and will always be here to answer questions and provide support and encouragement.

    Self test hba1c kits

And remember the HbA1c result depends very much on an average length of life for your red blood cells and can be impacted up or down by various medications prescription and none prescription. When I used the Libre, it predicted a much lower result than the test done by the GP. My diabetes nurse...

    Cholesterol help!

We have no idea what healthy levels of cholesterol are in low carb eating people. It could be that the higher levels some of us get are completely normal and in fact good. Most of the research, much of which seems inconclusive is done on high carb eating populations over the last 30 years. My...

    Confused by DN/Keto/BG

You sound as though you are doing really well in terms of testing and eating the right things. The NHS now can recommend low carb diets for type 2 diabetics so she is very out of date. It is possible to put diabetes into remission and you sound as you are doing that so well done. Don't be...

    Confused by DN/Keto/BG

It is a measure of how much blood glucose has been taken up by the red blood cells over the previous 3 months (that is the average life of a red blood cell) It is often used to diagnose pre diabetes or type 2 diabetes.

Blood test results 6 months on..

You could try testing before eating porridge and then at an hour and 2 hours after to see the impact it has. I gave up museli with fruit and yoghurt and changed to eggs, mushroom and spinach. I am now at HbA1C 35 and no meds. Or try intermittent fasting I dont eat after 2pm, a few days a week...

    Low carb and Statins

Your score seems to double, the moment you say you have diabetes type 2. There is no question about HbA1c or control or remission. the irony to me is that if many of us walked into a new surgery and our blood was tested we would be not be diabetic. So my question is if our diabetes is in...
