    I’m Amazed More People Aren’t

Curiously, after writing that, I thought I'd look up what Costa has to say on the matter: https://www.costa.co.uk/nutrition/ Not quite sure where to start, really. I mean, the concept is that, somehow, sugar is an opt-out option by default: and staff will put syrups in drinks, even when...

    I’m Amazed More People Aren’t

I did once, foolishly, ask a Costa staffer if they had cream. They grabbed the make-frothy-whipped-cream cannister and said "Like this?" "No," I patiently replied. "That has lots of sugar in it." "It doesn't... it's just cream." What followed was a 10 minute farce (with a growing queue behind...

Canagliflozin Slows Kidney Function Loss In People With Type 2 Diabetes

Yeah, they're tricky drugs and still very new. I have to admit, I wonder whether they're jumping the gun a little in trying to get a license for T1 use when the long-term effects on T2 (i.e. over decades, not years) still can't be known. Wait and see, I suppose.

Canagliflozin Slows Kidney Function Loss In People With Type 2 Diabetes

Some of the drugs in the same tree (with the same action) are already being tested for T1 patients: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/26080652 https://www.nice.org.uk/guidance/indevelopment/gid-ta10236

    High Stress Levels

The devil is in the details, Maddy! Thanks for replying so fast! Not to nag, but could you answer the questions at the top of my post there, just to give us all a specific idea of your situation - thanks :) I'm a devil for claiming my meal was healthy right up to the moment I write down...

    Coffee Affecting Your Sugar Levels?

I've never seen a rise from coffee. Though, @Ross.Walker it's not the latte but the syrup they use in it as an emulsifier so that, in a glass mug or plastic cup, the drink is evenly coloured, instead of having a little froth on top. Why anyone decided we hate froth is beyond me... in a nation of...

    I’m Amazed More People Aren’t

It's tough, it really is. I struggle particularly at this time of year, when my favourite thing used to be popping along to Costa for a quiet moment with a book and something gratuitously fluffy and over-priced. Even now, on the rare occasions I dare to meet friends in cafes, telling the staff...

    Suspected Diabetes, Advice?

Apple will DEFINITELY alter the results. You can test yourself (use a different lancet in the finger pricker) to see the impact foods have on your BG. Do one when you've not eaten for a bit and then eat just half an apple and half a banana. You'll be amazed. As for whether he can go a day...

    Suspected Diabetes, Advice?

Firstly, hi and welcome @autumnsavannah - take a breath and relax: everything is okay. Sugar and ketones could be present for any number of reasons (though they sure are odd assuming your son is eating a typical diet for a child his age - fruit, potatoes, pasta, veggies - but, still, you said...

    Sign Language In Parliament...

... and the deaf person's typical response: https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/av/uk-politics-44713274/penny-mordaunt-uses-british-sign-language-in-commons-first I find it shocking that the first time BSL is used in Parliament is 2018, but there it is - finally happened. And to announce a global...
