    Mid morning food suggestions

I work in a shared office space which has a fridge and microwaves. There are plenty of high street bakery and sandwich shops nearby. Also a Waitrose. I really like having some food at 10 or 11am. Using a Libre meter, bacon rolls etc. cause high blood sugar spikes. Surprisingly croissants cause...

My first hypo - what to look out for with hypos

Thankyou. Medications: Gliclazide and Sitagliptin I do not use a finger prick glucometer - I have never been organised enough to use one effectively Also my GP only prescribed a set of lancets over 10 years ago. I do wake up in the small hours with anxiety and sometimes sweating... hmmm Also...

My first hypo - what to look out for with hypos

I have been a Type 2 for over 10 years. Recently I have sorted out my diet and have a personal trainer. I find the Freestyle Libre 2 invaluable. Last night around 10pm the device registered a hypo alarm. I have set the level to 3.5 Durring the night the phone said it lost connection - which is a...

    Weight loss drugs

I have in the past asked my GP for a prescription for weight loss drugs. Was refused on the grounds that I am not obese. Go figure - what should I do? Get stuck into the cream cakes? I was thinking on the weight loss drug injected into the thigh. What are the popular weight loss drugs? I want to...

Low calorie diet - how tough is it and how to get on it

I have not seen a GP regarding Type II for a long time. Yes I ahve seen practice nurses for foot checkups and when asked they say make an appointment with the GP. We all know how difficult it is to get a face to face consultation with a GP these days. I would like to ask anyone who has done it...

    Gaining weight - glyclazide?

I am on 1 tablet Sitagliptin and 4x80mg Glyclazide. This was increased from 2x80mg a couple of months ago. I have found that over the last two weeks I have been putting on weight. I have a decent enough diet, and try to keep the carbs down. I admit to drinking wine in the evenings, though the...

    Badly Controlled

I use a Freestyle Libre meter, but can;t afford to have one constantly. My levels are averaging 12 and I am worried. More below. Over the last six months or so I have lost control of my glucose levels. I am Type 2 on 2 Glyclazide per day. I was on SR Metformin but no longer take it because of...

    Shoulder pain

I have pain in my shoulders, spreading now to across the top of my chest. The pain is not severe, but I am afraid of it getting worse. I consulted my GP by phone about frozen shoulders about a year ago. Basically the attitude was "diabetics get frozone shoulders, we really dont know why" If...

    Freestyle Libre on prescription

Over on another site I saw someone who has Freestyle Libre on prescription. They said the redings were shared with the GP practice (I imagine they give access to the Freestyle website to the GP) This person used insulin. Anyone here get Freestyle on prescription?

    Medication Review

Surprisingly positive phone consultation. My HBA1C is 64, down slightly from 67. SO not good enough yet. I said I was not tolerating Metformin (I have the SR version) and this was accepted without a problem. SO the suggestion is to up the Glyclazide dose, which I am OK with.

    Medication Review

I am due a medication review by phone tomorrow. I got a text from the doctors surgery saying that my last BHA1C level ahs high and they want to talk to me. As an aside, it pisses me off when they say 'high' - I can understand numbers and it would be helpful compare with the last two or three...
