Am I hungry or just bored?

Aw, I’m glad they worked out for you. Gotta embrace the small wins!

Never heard of leaky gut syndrome causing T2

Leaky gut…. it is a thing, I believe. Disclaimer; my scanty knowledge comes from my vet when my cat was diagnosed with IBD many years ago. In cats, an inappropriate diet (specifically, carbs… funny, eh?) causes an inflammatory response in the gut, whereby it holds more and more water to try...

    Treats and blood sugar

I bake low carb cakes and scones now and then, when I fancy it. But not as a ‘treat’, just because I feel like a bit of cake. But I have no difficulty in restricting myself to a single slice a day, not because I need the control but because that’s all I want. If you knew what a cake-fiend...

HBA1C Result - not as good as I hoped …..

As @ultradad says, it may be worth trying a bit of intermittent fasting. You could reduce to one or two meals a day, several days a week. If you eat enough for your meals then you shouldn’t suffer unbearable hunger, but by increasing the fasting window between mealtimes you may help lessen...

    Type 2 Hunger

Absolutely, @MrsA2! When I think back to life before diabetes I often used to say ‘I’m hungry’, but I really wasn’t. I am somewhat ashamed to admit that I don’t think I ever let myself get more than a bit peckish before stuffing in more food. I think a lot of people in the western world are...

    Type 2 Hunger

If you are eating a low-carb diet then I personally would just eat something! I find that one of the freedoms of low-carb is, for the first time in my adult life, I do not have food cravings and I have broken the link between eating and emotional reward. So if I feel hungry, it’s a real hunger...

    New Diagnosis Confusion

Your daughter needs to do as you did, and her nurse need to either drag herself into the 2020s or be put out to grass where she can’t do any more damage.

    HbA1c from 129 to 31

Actually, I would say one of the main reasons for your success is…. YOU! Well done!

Is a small amount of carbohydrates equivalent to low carbohydrates

I’m sorry, I didn’t appreciate that you use insulin. My comments may only be applicable for those T2s who manage their diabetes without insulin. However I would be discussing with my doctor, if I suffered from hypos - I have never understood the rationale to eat carbs to increase BG so that...

Is a small amount of carbohydrates equivalent to low carbohydrates

Your diet as you describe it seems to be quite carb-heavy and one might normally expect a strong response to the carbs in muffins, pastry, beans and lentils, higher carb veg like carrots, crackers…. I know if I ate those things my BG would definitely spike after each meal, but lucky you if yours...

    So, this fasting BG thing….

Am I alone in not worrying about it, all else being under control? I rarely check my BG first thing in the morning, I have always taken the view that there is really very little I can do to affect it beyond my current efforts so there is not much point in checking it. This is against a...

    Evening meals

I’ve said it before ( and will doubtless say it again, because I am smitten! :)), but getting an air fryer was just the single most useful acquisition evva for cooking no-effort, outrageously tasty, low-carb meals. Shove in some meat, add some veggies, leave it alone, eat. Air fried veggies...

Carb and sugar levels per 100g vs per serving/day.

ah peas inna pod, sorry, I was looking at shelled peas!

Carb and sugar levels per 100g vs per serving/day.

Have you checked the nutritional info for the peas? 3.6g per 100 sounds very low, most uk sources put green peas at something like 9 or 10g per 100g. As @Goonergal says, we need to consider all carbs and not just sugars, so I suspect you might have underestimated the total carbs provided by...

    Annual type 2 check up

I never take one to my reviews, the nurse usually asks for one so I pick up a pot on the way out, do the necessary ‘first flow’ at some point over the next week or so, and drop it back. It’s hardly an urgent test, but my surgery also use it for more detailed kidney function testing.
