Thank you all. Just slightly shocked at the result. A couple of months ago, when we were measuring his glucose reading. They were between 6.5-7.7 two hours after eating. Is the glucose tolerance test really effective ? Could the Endo be right about the steroids making his blood sugars go a bit...
Hello everyone,
You may remember me from my previous posts about my son. But to give a back story- in case you don’t know it.
My son is currently undergoing investigations for diabetes. For one reason or another we had a few blood tests done and his hbac1 level was within the pre/diabetic...
Well since we've had the results from Endo and confirming that it was the steroid rising his hbac1 level. I feel she is avoiding me. Every appointment I have with the Derm, it's always with someone different. Other dermatologists have agreed that I shouldn't give him any more steroids and are...
I didn't think of that ! Your right ! I will add cereals (but not much) into his diet. But he was having cereal, before going LC, every day. I think, for breakfast, it's good for it to be varied.
The endo said it was an overdose and that steroids are not supposed to be used with oocculation..(putting on a bandage on top of applying a steroid- especially a high potent one). The Dermatologist was persuading me to keep this up for 5 months, when I resisted, she said I was basically wasting...
We don't do much low carb now since we've last spoken to the endo. I make low carb bread and wraps and that's about it. Low carb has made me more aware that I need to broaden his diet a bit more. Before low carb, my son would eat loads of cereals...now I am more imaginative with breakfast...
Of course I don't ! I feel guilty of trusting my dermatologist to give him an X amount of steroid whilst putting bandages. I came on here to ask for advice. Don't tell me I want my son to have diabetes. He has enough health complications as it is. Why would I want to add more to that list ?
I assumed you were telling me your HBAC1 results, I realised it was just part of your username- message thing ? That the low carb diet gave you those results. I was just over thinking.
But it could be slow onset diabetes and he is in the very early stages. His been off steroids for four months. It shouldn't take that long to come out of the system ?
Hello everyone, I'm really confused about my son. The endo reckons he doesn't have Diabetes and it was the steroids that made his blood sugar levels go towards the prediabetic range. He has recent HBAC1 test and it was 6 ! His last HBAC1 was 5.8 or 5.9. What's going on ? His had all antibodies...
